Diamond Scene was runner-up as second favourite in the 2025 Perth Cup and is building towards the 2026 edition nicely, having taken out the Group 3 Eurythmic Stakes first-up on October 18.
He backed that fresh victory up with a fourth-place finish in the Railway Stakes, before a ninth-of-fourteen effort in the Group 1 Northerly Stakes, where he covered ground throughout and had excuses.

Apulia ($6) finished behind Diamond Scene in the Northerly Stakes, where the Victorian visitor came home tenth after arriving off back-to-back Melbourne wins following a 12-month absence.
He is bred to stay, being by Fiorente, a Melbourne Cup winner, and those staying credentials were evident early in his three-year-old season when winning the Moonee Valley Vase before a narrow defeat in the Victoria Derby.
Buckets Ridge ($7) recorded his third Listed success on December 6 when prevailing in the G.A. Towton Cup and is finding form again after a mixed winter campaign.
Forever Boy was runner-up in the G.A. Towton Cup and shares an $8 quote with stablemate Stormageddon, who finished fourth in the same event.

Perth Cup Winners
After being run as a two-mile event from 1887 to 2008, the distance of the Perth Cup was reduced to 2400m due to a lack of stayers competing in Western Australia.
While the race lost Group 1 status in 1992, the feature has continued to produce strong winners, with Western Jewel, Real Love and Delicacy all appearing on the honour roll.
From 2022, the Perth Cup returned to its traditional New Year’s Day slot after a brief period of being run on the first Saturday of the new calendar year.
