Godolphin Internship Program BM66 Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Seymour Value Bet - Race 4 No. 3 Ahab

Ahab has been in excellent form this season, recording two wins from five starts and building a particularly strong record at Seymour.

The second of those victories came here three starts ago when the New Zealand-bred gelding prevailed narrowly over 2021m in testing conditions, defeating 10 rivals in a BM62.

A runner-up finish in BM70 company at this circuit followed before he headed to Ballarat on September 18, where he finished sixth over 2000m on a Good 4 surface.

That was his first run on a sound turf surface since January and he hung in during the race, prompting the nearside winker to go back on for Sunday’s assignment.

Barrier 12 is far from ideal, but Ahab has a win and a second from two Seymour appearances and, with Zac Moore’s 3kg claim reducing his impost, he looks capable of running another strong race at the venue.

Bezzy Eldo BM62 Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Seymour Best Bet - Race 6 No. 14 Parcae

A half-sister to top-class sprinter Tentyris, Parcae showed plenty in her preparatory work before making an impressive winning debut at Mornington last month.

The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained filly jumped as a $1.45 favourite on September 17 after showing up well in her jump-outs and justified that support in convincing fashion.

Racing on speed under Michael Dee, the daughter of Blue Point took control of the 1000m maiden and came home two-and-a-half lengths clear of her nearest rival.

The form has held up reasonably through those behind her and, having already shown she handles a Good surface, the rise into BM62 company looks a suitable next step.

Dee retains the ride and a cross-over nose band goes on for the first time, and while barrier nine presents a slightly trickier setup, Parcae looks capable of remaining unbeaten at start two.

Seymour Park BM74 Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Seymour Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Educated

Educated has built an excellent record through the early stages of her career, winning three of six starts and placing second in both appearances this preparation.

Two of those victories have come over 1100m, including a Flemington success on a Good 4 at the end of February, which was also her most recent start on the firmer ground expected here.

The four-year-old has been narrowly beaten in both runs this season, going down by just 0.3 lengths at Caulfield before filling the same position in a BM78 at Sandown Hillside on September 2.

She tracked the speed in that latest Soft 5 contest and again lost out by only a narrow margin, continuing a remarkably consistent start to her career.

Freshened since, Educated gets Celine Gaudray back aboard for the first time this preparation, with the jockey having partnered the daughter of Zoustar for all three of her previous victories, and the pair look well placed to add another win.

Seymour Feature Bet - Race 9 No. 11 Storm Leopard

Storm Leopard demonstrated his class during his previous preparation, which culminated with a third in the Group 1 ATC Australian Derby over 2400m at Randwick in April.

The Ben, Will and JD Hayes-trained four-year-old has made two appearances this season, resuming with a fifth over 1400m at Caulfield before stepping up to 1700m at Flemington on September 12.

He was sent forward from a wide draw at Flemington and travelled in front before weakening into 12th, but a post-race endoscopic examination revealed EIPH, so there were clear excuses for the performance.

Freshened since that run, Storm Leopard returned to Flemington for an 800m jump-out earlier this month and finished third, providing a useful hit-out ahead of the Seymour Cup.

Barrier one is a major positive and, although much of his strongest form has come over further, he is already a winner over 1600m, while Daniel Stackhouse takes the ride for a Hayes stable that knows what it takes to win this race.
