The Everest 2026 Betting Tips - Who Can Beat Ka Ying Rising?

The Everest, the world's richest turf race, returns to Royal Randwick on October 17, 2026, for its 10th edition. Ka Ying Rising is the clear early favourite after his dominant win in 2025, but betting odds suggest little value at $1.50. Guest House, a top three-year-old, and St Gotthard, a promising value pick, are leading challengers. With $20 million on offer over 1200m, the race shapes up as another blockbuster between proven stars and exciting new talent. Key recommendation: Watch for late market moves and emerging three-year-olds.

The world's richest turf race returns to Royal Randwick on Saturday, October 17, with another outstanding edition of The Everest set to headline the Sydney Spring Carnival.

Run over 1200m for $20 million under weight-for-age conditions, the sprint spectacular once again brings together Australia's best speedsters alongside elite international challengers, with defending champion Ka Ying Rising bidding to become just the second horse to win The Everest twice after Redzel's back-to-back triumphs in 2017 and 2018.

The Everest 2026 Tips

The Everest 2026 Favourite - Ka Ying Rising

Can you take $1.50 this far out for Ka Ying Rising to win The Everest? Probably not, but there's no arguing the Hong Kong superstar deserves to be favourite to defend his crown.

The David Hayes-trained sprinter was simply too good in the 2025 renewal, proving he could travel to Sydney and handle Australia's biggest sprint despite not producing his absolute peak performance.

Before arriving in Australia, Ka Ying Rising had already established himself as Hong Kong's premier sprinter with a dominant winning sequence against elite opposition.

His Everest triumph only enhanced that reputation, and with five subsequent victories, he remains the benchmark heading towards the 2026 edition.

While the price offers little appeal this far out, he's the horse they all have to beat.
The Everest 2026 Next Best Bet - Guest House

The Everest enters its 10th running in 2026, and three-year-olds have already shown they can match it with the older sprinters.

Yes Yes Yes won as a three-year-old in 2019, Giga Kick repeated the feat in 2022, while Tempted finished runner-up to Ka Ying Rising last year after Growing Empire and Lady Of Camelot also produced good performances in the 2024 renewal.

Guest House looks every bit as talented as those youngsters after producing an outstanding Golden Slipper victory to cap his juvenile season.

He turned the tables on Blue Diamond Stakes winner Streisand in that success, while Campione D'Italia, who finished behind him, won the Group 1 Inglis Sires' Stakes at his next start.

With natural improvement, Guest House profiles as the leading three-year-old contender.
The Everest 2026 Value Bet - St Gotthard

A $2.7 million Inglis Easter yearling purchase, St Gotthard is a full brother to Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Switzerland and is prepared by Chris Waller.

The exciting colt won both starts during his juvenile campaign before connections elected to spell him rather than continue through the Brisbane carnival.

After an impressive Warwick Farm debut, he produced an even better performance when taking out the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial on the Gold Coast.

There's plenty of upside with St Gotthard, and he shapes as one of the few unexposed runners capable of making significant improvement.

Most of the established sprinters are well exposed, while St Gotthard is a big each-way price in the early markets.
