South Australian Derby History
The first ever running of the race was back in 1860 and is one of Australia’s oldest races.
We may not have seen the best ever 3YO stayers win the race, but orses such as Mummify, VIC Derby winner Rebel raider and many people’s favourite Melbourne Cup winner Subzero have all taken out the event.
We have seen four fillies since 2015 take out the event including Delicacy and 2019 winner Qafila both win in dominant fashion.
