Mick Price and Michael Kent (Jnr) prepared Jungle Magnate to win the 2022 South Australian Derby and they train Warmonger (barrier 14) who headed the pre-barrier draw market for the 2024 South Australian Derby.

A stakes winner at Flemington on last year's Melbourne Cup Day meeting, Warmonger has completed two runs via tradtional lead-up's in Adelaide, which includes a fifth in last Saturday's Chairman's Stakes and he spotted them a big start in that Group 3.

The Price & Kent (Jnr) stable won the first Group 1 of the 2024 Adelaide Racing Carnival, with Vibrant Sun recording a brave victory in the Australasian Oaks, while the Victorian partnership have also accepted with Shinjuku (barrier 2) and Tulsa King (barrier 17) for this three-year-old feature.

Chris Waller is aiming for his first South Australian Derby victory and the champion trainer has Ahuriri (barrier 11), who was a dominant last start winner in the VRC St Leger (2800m).

She's looking to become the first filly since Qafila (2019) to win this feature.

Bold Soul (barrier 12) is another key contender, a galloper who was successful in the Tasmanian Derby before a break and he progressed off an encouraging return effort with victory in last Saturday's Chairman's Stakes.

The son of Embellish is trained by Patrick Payne, who prepared Dunkel to win last year's South Australian Derby.

A Samurai Mind (barrier 5) is one of the leading local hopes, with the son of Shamus Award arriving to this feature off a narrow second against older rivals on April 20.

He had won two of his first three starts and also picked up late when contesting the Morphettville Guineas on March 11, which was taken out by Air Assault (barrier 13).

A front-runner who recorded a winning hat-trick before a third in last Saturday's Chairman's Stakes, the son of Justify looks tested over 2500m, however, he will make his own luck and all five of his wins have come at Morphettville.
