One of Perth's oldest and most pretigeous races, the Railway Stakes is steeped in history.
First run in 1887 the Railway Stakes is the headline event of Super Saturday at Ascot, which includes a number of listed races.
The race matches up with the Kingston Town Classic, which is run two weeks later. Four horses in history have claimed the double including hall of famer Betting Loosen Up and Sniper's Bullet.
Today the Railway Stakes is worth $1.5 million and is run as part of the one-of-a-kind Perth Summer Racing Carnival.
