Railway Stakes Tips 2021

Railway Stakes 2021 Best Bet - Western Empire

Trainers Grant & Alana Williams, owner Bob Peters and jockey William Pike are aiming for a fourth-consecutive Railway Stakes win in 2021, where they all combine with the short fav.

Following a teasing start to his career, this four-year-old is now one of the rising stars in Western Australia, culminating his autumn with a Derby victory before resuming with a dominant win in the Asian Beau Stakes.

Despite looking very forward in his lead-up trials, the market opposed Western Empire via that return run and the punters got it horribly wrong, with the gelding recording an arrogant victory.

Without a lot changing in regards to his opposition over the last few days, he certainly hasn't been missed with continual support and while getting short enough now, Western Empire is the one to beat in the 2021 Railway Stakes.

Railway Stakes 2021 Next Best Bet - Notorious One

Although he's been the rawest of talents and will always be a quirky galloper despite slowly starting to put it together this year, Notorious One has shown stakes-class ability since day one.

Still a very lightly raced six-year-old, I've always had plenty of time for this son of Animal Kingdom, who had some shocking racing manners, but has started to settle in his work a lot kinder.

One thing he wasn't doing early when winning solely on ability was taking gaps, which isn't a problem now and while he was in restricted room at a key stage last start, the gelding was chasing hard late behind Western Empire.

The $1.85 versus $13 tells us that he's in an uphill battle to turn the tables on the winner, however, he was six weeks between runs and clearly targeted for this, so there's improvement to come and the Gangemi yard are absolutely flying at present.

Railway Stakes 2021 Value Bet - Kay Cee

While her strike rate isn't bad by any measure, the 2019 Kingston Town Classic winner has proved very hard to catch since her three-year-old season, with just the one victory over her last nine outings.

For a galloper that been successful at WFA, which includes victories over varying distances, there's no doubting Kay Cee has a class edge on a chunk of this field when right, especially considering the 53kg minimum.

Off just the one trial, trainer Neville Parnham has slowly been building into the spring with this four-year-old, who was somewhat of a hidden run second-up in the Lee Steere, recording a race fastest last 600m of 33.65.

As she showed multiple times earlier in her career, Kay Cee doesn't have to flop out the back when she draws a gate and as one of the forgotten runners in the west, I'm respecting her at a big price as a Group 1 winner.
