Strong acceptances across the meeting set the tone, with depth from the early handicaps through to the three-year-old features and listed support races. It’s a card shaped by varied formlines, fresh talent and returning stakes performers, creating a busy landscape for punters to work through.

The Railway once again anchors the afternoon and brings genuine quality, but the undercard is equally compelling, with several progressive types capable of elevating through the grades and landing a blow at carnival level. With plenty of betting angles scattered from the opener to the feature, it shapes as one of the more engaging programs of the Ascot season.

Ascot Tips November 22

Race 1 - 11:59AM TABtouch - Westspeed Platinum Series Heat 3 Tips (1400m)

11. Diamonds’N’Rubies is one of the more lightly tried acceptors and comes into this off a positive second-up return at Belmont, where she showed good speed.

She was supported in the market there and gave a solid sight before fitness understandably gave out late, which wasn’t surprising given she went straight to 1300m first-up, and with a 3kg drop and natural improvement she’s among the leading chances.

9. Auto Cruise also comes through that same race and the lightly raced gelding caught the eye late when working home into second, having shown promise throughout his first prep with a debut win and a runner-up finish at Pinjarra.

6. Bartime continues to race honestly and hasn’t been suited over shorter trips recently, so getting back to 1400m looks a positive move.

15. Vergrey could be the bolter after being well backed first-up without luck before giving a good account of himself at Ascot on November 4.

Selections: 11, 9, 6, 15.

Race 2 - 12:34PM Magic Millions - Crystal Slipper Stakes Tips (1100m)

Only three of these youngsters have had a start, so it’s not surprising that 1. Beatty heads the market as the only race winner in the field.

He was supported into an odds-on quote in that November assignment and duly got the job done under William Pike, who stays aboard for this Crystal Slipper Stakes attempt.

It’s hard to get too enthusiastic about a short price in a juvenile affair, but he is clearly the starting point here.

12. Saints ’N’ Sinners looked the best mover among the debutantes, and while she may want more ground in time, her last trial suggested she has some talent, even though a few did get the better of her late, including 3. Consignment, who was brave winning a November 10 heat.

10. Lucy Red looks a typical jump-and-run youngster and could give cheek at a big price.

Selections: 1, 12, 3, 10.

Race 3 - 1:11PM Drummond Golf Handicap Tips (2100m)

It’s getting close to D-Day for 2. First Encounter, who resumed with a slashing fifth in a stronger 1400m event on October 11 and looked well placed to win afterwards.

He then finished third before placing again when stepping from 1600m to 2200m on November 8, and importantly now has that distance run under the belt and three outings to build from.

The long-striding son of Dundeel has hinted at Perth Cup aspirations but needs to start putting fields like this away if he’s to press on to loftier targets.

1. Rocking Society was a touch plain in the York Cup, although he’s still building into his preparation, and his solid Ascot return last month under 60kg reads better than his latest effort.

Off those at longer odds, WA Oaks placegetter 14. Noahquintilly had nothing go right last time but is building okay, while 15. Rommeo also looks ready for this distance even though he’s yet to prove himself past 1800m.

Selections: 2, 1, 14, 15.

Race 4 - 1:51PM MCA Polytrack Handicap Tips (1600m)

6. Skytalker is one of several chances and brings an unconventional setup rising from 1200m to 1600m second-up, although he has always shown raw talent without fully putting it together.

Now with Michael Grantham, he looks capable of progressing this season after winning a weaker Bunbury race first-up as an odds-on favourite, even though he was on one rein in the straight and came from off the speed in an otherwise on-pace-dominated affair.

He carries three kilos less here and shouldn’t be underestimated.

3. Maxwhooshtapin put in a shocker last time out on October 25, but that effort was out of character given he had been ticking over quite well earlier in the prep, which included a strong fresh performance at Belmont, so the slight drop in trip may help.

8. Audio Boy is building towards a win after just missing behind Battle Commander, who then almost completed a hat-trick, while 5. Muddy Waters won for us at a big price second-up and saluted again third-up.

Selections: 6, 3, 8, 5.

Race 5 - 2:28PM Schweppes Handicap Tips (1400m)

9. Awesome Boy was progressing nicely in his second campaign, which included two wins, the latest a comfortable all-the-way victory over this track and trip in April when well backed.

He returned on November 4 and, off a colder ride, found the line well when giving 3.5kg to the winner, and with a run under his belt and 6.5kg less this time, he can roll forward and give a strong sight.

2. Essentric Nature completed a hat-trick over September and October before being beaten as favourite last start when not as well suited dropping back in distance.

He steps back up to 1400m here and, although up in the weights, remains a consistent operator and looks in another suitable race.

1. Angel Undercover saluted third-up on November 8 when sustaining a wide run from off the speed and brings a strong Ascot record, while 11. Sixinch Heels chased into second in the same race and has claims again.

Selections: 9, 2, 1, 11.

Race 6 - 3:03PM Carbine Club Of W.A. Stakes Tips (1400m)

5. Cosmic Crusader wasn’t able to guarantee a Railway Stakes slot after losing his last two as an odds-on favourite, having been well found in the market for those Group 3 attempts following two dominant September victories.

The best way to ride him may simply be to let him roll along, which was evident in those earlier wins, and the wide gate could force that pattern with Clint Johnston-Porter aboard.

He has been costly but remains talented and well placed to bounce back.

10. Asphalt has won six straight coming from maiden grade through the Saturday benchmarks, and while this is harder at listed level, he continues answering each challenge and is an interesting runner again.

2. Aztec Ruler won this race last year and has improved with each run this time in, while 6. Yonga Lass was a touch plain in the Lee-Steere but returned well prior at Kalgoorlie and drops slightly in grade third-up.

Selections: 5, 10, 2, 6.

Race 7 - 3:40PM Glenroy Chaff - A.J. Scahill Cup Tips (2100m)

2. Captain Pluto looked the good thing on November 8, with the son of Savabeel saluting in the Luckygray Stakes where the rise from 1600m to 1800m suited perfectly.

He reeled them in under William Pike and the wizard stays aboard for this Scahill Cup attempt, with the rise to 2100m unlikely to trouble him and the 1.5kg penalty manageable in a race of similar depth.

The minor query is that he generally spots them a start, but he’s the form galloper building nicely into the campaign.

9. Opportunistic was unbeaten from three attempts in her first prep, including two listed victories, but hasn’t gone on with it this time and was disappointing in the York Cup, although he was stepping sharply in trip there.

5. Fear The Wind stays all day and could be a bolter up in distance, while 14. Stormageddon is worth another look after finding trouble when resuming off a freshen last Saturday.

Selections: 2, 9, 5, 14.

Race 8 - 4:20PM W.A. Guineas Tips (1600m)

This is a strong edition of the Group 2, headlined by the unbeaten 1. King Of Light who is building a strong record and looks suited rising to 1600m.

His brilliant finish in all four appearances, including the latest in the Fairetha Stakes on November 8, marks him as a leading chance again.

4. Rock Fest must be respected coming from that same key lead-up, having won his first two comfortably before a break and producing the fastest closing sectionals last time, with the rise to the mile expected to suit.

13. Ladies Pro could be the bolter after winning on debut over 1000m and then almost picking up older gallopers second-up over 1400m, spotting them a start.

10. Buthelezi has found form with back-to-back Ascot wins at 1500m and should have no issues with 1600m, although this is a deeper contest.

Selections: 1, 4, 13, 10.

Race 9 - 4:58PM Swan Draught - Railway Stakes Tips (1600m)

The Williams–Pike partnership has combined for five Railway Stakes wins and they team up again with 12. Watch Me Rock, who shapes as the straight-bat option for the 2025 edition. He has been somewhat of a later bloomer, working through the grades this season to put together a strong hat-trick, and his Asian Beau Stakes win second-up confirmed he’s still trending the right way.

He enjoyed a soft run there, but the performance rated well, and the 3kg drop from that assignment is significant in a race that routinely favours those getting in light. Recent history has been unkind to the topweights, and that trend doesn’t help Western Empire.

1. Western Empire still brings the strongest overall profile into the race, and his Lee-Steere Stakes return on November 8 was exceptional on the clock as he produced the fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m of the program. Billy Egan also reunites after steering him to a Gold Rush victory last December, and sheer ability keeps him in the finish despite the impost.

13. Admiration Express continues to be underrated at this level and her consistency stacks up strongly. Her last third-up attempt in June produced a comfortable Group 3 win, and she was Group 1 WFA placed last spring behind Light Infantry Man. She arrived at the Lee-Steere off an unlucky return and has improvement to come now reaching her preferred stage of the prep.

14. Depth Of Character appeals as the one from interstate through The Golden Eagle. Port Lockroy came out of that same race to win this last year for the Archibald stable, who also prepare this four-year-old, and he won the Queensland Guineas over this trip in May.

Selections: 12, 1, 13, 14.

Race 10 - 5:40PM Share Bets With Tabtouch Bet Loop Tips (1200m)

2. Smooth Chino was unbeaten across three runs in his first campaign, culminating in a Magic Millions triumph at Pinjarra that highlighted his talent.

He resumed on November 1 and sat outside the leader before drawing clear late, which was strong given he was first-up from a single trial.

He rises 2kg but draws softer and stays in the same grade, and natural improvement should come from that return outing, particularly with the form franked when Jazz Session won last Saturday.

3. Shmoov Moova looks a major improver back on dry ground after not handling wet tracks in four runs through August and September, and he is unbeaten from four attempts at Ascot.

11. Cashel Palace trialled well in October, and although the Smooth Chino and Shmoov Moova form is with the market fancies, she’s been given time and is a listed winner from last spring. 15. Magnique is very genuine and was a tidy first-up winner at Northam.

Selections: 2, 3, 11, 15.
