Kembla Grange Value Bet - Race 1 No. 10 Oakfield Saturn
Wyong trainer Damien Lane is having a strong recent run in these Midway races and with Oakfield Jupiter winning twice in this grade, attention now turns to Oakfield Saturn.
She is another lightly raced type who is still learning the caper, yet she has been consistent with two victories and four placings from six starts.
Oakfield Saturn was a second-up winner at Gosford on November 6, which was only a narrow triumph, but the slight drop in trip and tight-turning circuit were not ideal setups.
Class still prevailed on that occasion and the rise to 1400m now looks ideal for her.
She also carries 3.5kg less from that recent outing, which strengthens her claims on Saturday.
PD Food Services BM78 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Kembla Grange Best Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Hurstville Zagreb
His only finish outside the money came via a fourth-of-nine at Rosehill last time out and there was still merit to the run, with Hurstville Zagreb forced to work from a wide draw.
He was entitled to be vulnerable late under those conditions and can be forgiven for that fading effort.
The son of Divine Prophet arrived there off a strong all-the-way win second-up at Warwick Farm.
From barrier one here, jockey Zac Lloyd should have a far easier time placing Hurstville Zagreb straight on the speed.
He still has upside and with more favours predicted, the four-year-old is well placed to bounce back on Saturday.
Abax Civil CG&E BM78 Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Kembla Grange Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 7 Shady Thinker
Nash Rawiller is a star rider and will be eager to atone on Shady Thinker after the South Australian received no favours on his New South Wales debut on November 8.
He covered ground throughout that run but stuck to the task well under the circumstances.
There is also room for improvement now that he has had a look around the Sydney leg.
His only home-state defeat came at start three when unsuited back in distance deep into his first campaign.
Via his Murray Bridge resumption on October 18, Shady Thinker made it three wins from his first four appearances and he finds a similar field to what he contested a fortnight ago.
The Illawarra Mercury Gong Tips (Race 8)
Kembla Grange Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Territory Express
Gringotts is the obvious starting point as last year’s winner and the 2025 favourite is well in at the weights going up only 1kg on his 2024 success.
A Group 1 WFA George Ryder Stakes has also been among his subsequent victories which adds further strength to his profile.
Of the blowouts, Territory Express certainly has the ability to finish in the money.
Talent is not the issue, although he has often been his own worst enemy at the barriers and he arrives here off a decent return.
He will always need luck and if middle-to-wider lanes are in play late, as they often are at Kembla Grange, Territory Express could give this a shake.
Evergreen Turf BM88 Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Kembla Grange Roughie – Race 9 No. 4 Ruby Flyer
This seven-year-old comes further into contention should the rain arrive given his perfect three-from-three record on heavy ground.
His good and soft track stats are also sound which provides confidence regardless of conditions.
It was a strange early part of the preparation, with two heavy defeats before taking out the Goulburn Cup at long odds.
He delivered two subsequent flops after that August 24 success before recording two solid efforts at his last two outings.
He was also one of the best runs of the Big Dance with the fastest last 600m of the Randwick feature and that form should hold up here, with a market push unlikely to shock.
