When Perth racing shifts into its winter phase, the focus moves from Ascot to Belmont Park Racecourse, where metropolitan racing continues through the middle of the year and into early spring.
Operated by Perth Racing, Belmont is one of the two racecourses used by the Western Australian Turf Club and sits at Burswood, directly opposite Optus Stadium. Perth Racing stages more than 90 fixtures annually across Belmont and Ascot, with racing typically conducted on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The winter program provides Belmont with its strongest concentration of feature racing, traditionally including the Belmont Sprint, Hyperion Stakes and Strickland Stakes, before the calendar moves through races such as the Belmont Newmarket, Idyllic Prince Stakes and Farnley Stakes later in the season.
