Official Track Manager Comments

The track is currently rated a Soft 5 (now a Good 4). We've applied 11mm of irrigation in the last seven days and have had no rainfall in the last seven days.

The rail is in the three-metre position for the entire course, out from True, just to cover over a bit of marking from our previous meeting on August 22.

Lovely conditions coming into this week with nice fine weather. We've been able to apply some irrigation, which is good, and keep the track in the Soft 5 range currently, and we'll monitor it over the next few days.

It'll get a nice cut on Friday, probably about 4.25 inches, and it should come up very nicely.

Official Track Manager Comments

We've currently rated the track as a Good 4 this morning. However, we are getting some passing showers as we do this recording.

The forecast leading into Saturday is showers on race day, with the forecast suggesting anywhere between 4 and 15mm on race day. Friday evening looks like we're going to get between 2 and 4mm.

In saying that, we could see a track downgrade throughout the day with those suggested rainfall amounts.

The track's in great condition. We raced here on Wednesday, September 2, where the rail was in the Hillside position at 12 metres (returns to True Saturday). There is clean cover of ground from the True position out to 12 metres, and every horse should get their chance.

— Aidan Jolly, Sandown Racecourse Manager, via Moonee Valley Racing Club release Thursday at 5.20pm
