Perth Glory are favoured to secure at least a draw against Brisbane Roar in their A-League Round 2 clash at Suncorp Stadium. Brisbane, featuring a near-complete new lineup, did not play in Round 1 and face uncertainty in performance. Perth come off a narrow and controversial 2-1 loss to Macarthur, but showed promise with key players Tom Lawrence and Sebastian Despotovski impressing. The article tips Glory for a Double Chance (win or draw), with Lawrence and Despotovski likely to test Brisbane’s defence with shots on target.

Brisbane Roar vs Perth Glory A-League Round 2 Tips & Prediction

Perth Glory are tipped for a win or draw in the Double Chance market as they look to catch Brisbane Roar cold, with the men in orange playing their first game of the season on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.

Brisbane didn't feature in Round 1 last week - and with basically a brand new team, it's impossible to know what they're going to produce here. What I will say is that I don't think they're a chance for the finals, unless new Moldovan striker Virgiliu Postolachi turns out to be the next Besart Berisha.

We'll wait and see what Brisbane delivers, but for now I'm focusing on Perth for the majority of betting angles here.

Glory showcased some encouraging signs against Macarthur on the road last week and were unlucky to suffer a 2-1 defeat in controversial circumstances, seeing their 1-0 lead slip away in the final 10 minutes.

New captain Tom Lawerence opened the scoring, while Sebastian Despotovski proved lively in the final third.

Despotovski was on target last season against Brisbane, so I'm going to back the pair to work the keeper in two prop bets. Perth can come away with at least a point, with some value on a share of the spoils.
  • Glory are unbeaten in seven of their last nine A-League games
  • Roar failed to win their final 12 games of last season
  • The last meeting between these sides at Suncorp resulted in a draw
  • Tom Lawrence scored vs Macarthur last week
  • Sebastian Despotovski had two shots last week (one on target) vs Macarthur + he scored vs Brisbane in R26 last season

Brisbane Roar vs Perth Glory Head To Head

This will be the 60th A-League meeting between the teams, with Brisbane holding a 29-12 record, alongside 18 draws.

They split their three meetings last term with one win apiece and a draw.

Brisbane Roar Form Analysis

It was a horror season for Brisbane last term - they fell away dramatically, failing to win any of their final 12 games and finishing in 11th spot on the ladder.

The Roar didn't have much of an Australia Cup run, beating Sydney Olympic before falling 4-2 to Sydney FC in the R16.

Brisbane then left for a mini two-game series in Indonesia, but they were thumped 4-0 by both Dewa United and Persija Jakarta.

Michael Valkanis's side didn't feature in Round 1 as their scheduled game against Adelaide - who were in action late into last week in the AFC Champions League - was postponed.

Brisbane Roar Team News

Another new-look side for Brisbane ahead of this season.

Moldovan striker Virgiliu Postolachi needs to hit the ground running, while Justin Vidic will be hoping to take his game to the next level after a decent campaign last term.

South Korean midfielder Nam Tae-hee will be the creative outlet.

Brisbane Roar Possible Starting XI (3-5-2): Dean Bouzanis; Hosine Bility, Tom Aldred, Jacob Nasso; Tate Russell, Tyrese Francois, Jordan Lauton, Joel King; Nam Tae-hee, Virgiliu Postolachi, Justin Vidic

Perth Glory Form Analysis

Disappointing start to the season for Perth.

They were arguably the better side against Macarthur, but two goals in the final 10 minutes - one from the penalty spot - condemned Glory to their 12th consecutive opening round A-League defeat.

Perth had four more shots on target than the Bulls, but couldn't convert more chances after Lawrence's opener, while Macarthur found the back of the net with their only two shots on target.

Will Freney was arguably Perth's best player, with the 20-year-old providing the assist for Lawrence and impressing from midfield.

Perth Glory Team News

Lawrence and Despotovski were solid and the pair should start again in the final third.

Perth Glory Possible Starting XI (4-4-2): Matt Sutton; Tadiwanashe Kuzamba, Cher Deng, Lachlan Jackson, Andriano Lebib; Lucas Scicluna, William Freney, Henry Hore, Stefan Colakovski; Sebastian Despotovski, Tom Lawrence

Verdict

Glory are tipped for at least a point, with Lawrence & Despotovski backed for shots on target.
