The A-League is Australia's top soccer competition organised by Football Federation Australia (FFA). It was established in 2004 as a replacement for the National Soccer League with competition commencing in August 2005.

A-League History


The A-League was first established in 2004 as a replacement for the National Soccer League with competition commencing in August 2005.

Sydney FC are the most successful side having won the Grand Final a record five times. Melbourne Victory have four titles to their name.

The regular season runs throughout the Australian summer and concludes in the autumn. Teams play 27 games in the season with the top six in the table progressing to the finals. The winner of the Grand Final is crowned the champions.
