Warwick Farm hosts a seven-race midweek program on Wednesday, October 21, with several progressive gallopers looking to build on encouraging recent performances across the Sydney metropolitan circuit.

The meeting features a mix of lightly raced prospects and established performers, with recent Randwick Kensington, Rosehill and Warwick Farm form providing several key pointers.

Precise Air Handicap Tips (Race 2)

Warwick Farm Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 6 Rumdabar

Although they are not a frequent combination, the booking of James McDonald for a Kris Lees-trained runner is always worth noting, with the champion jockey recording three winners from eight rides for the stable this season after combining for six winners and three placegetters from just 12 rides last term.

McDonald takes the reins on Rumdabar, a son of Castelvecchio who made an encouraging return at Randwick Kensington on October 7 behind unbeaten colt Punxsutawney Phil, who led throughout to complete a hat-trick of victories.

After being ridden quietly from a wide draw in the small field, Rumdabar worked home strongly into fourth, recording the fastest closing sectionals of the race and the second-fastest final 600m of the entire meeting, suggesting there was plenty of merit in the performance.

He shapes as a galloper who could develop into a miler with maturity, making Wednesday's rise in distance particularly appealing, while his September trial work had also been sound and there is good reason to expect further improvement with that first-up run behind him.

There was plenty to like about his initial preparation, with excuses on debut after being dragged back over a trip short of his best before breaking through at Newcastle, while his subsequent fifth of ten came after covering ground behind the unbeaten Proxima Dea, who went on to extend her winning sequence to four in the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes on October 10.

Warwick Farm Best Bet - Race 4 No. 11 Bruce I Am

The combination of Chad Schofield and Joe Pride has enjoyed a productive start to the season, striking at 19% since the beginning of August, and Schofield retains the ride on Bruce I Am following an encouraging first-up second at Warwick Farm on October 5.

That BM72 was run at a strong tempo and played into the hands of eventual winner Fuadee, who swept home from the rear, while Street Artist also closed from off the speed to finish third, giving Bruce I Am's performance considerable merit after he finished ahead of that rival and was beaten only by a runner better suited by the race shape.

Street Artist had also been dropping back from stronger company and, although frustrating to follow, brought solid form into the contest, further strengthening the case for Bruce I Am, who remains in the same grade but drops to 1000m on Wednesday in what could prove the catalyst for a second career victory.

The four-year-old's maiden success was a comfortable all-the-way triumph over this distance in April before narrowly missing a winning double as an odds-on favourite, while there was also merit in his May 20 defeat after being softened up in front by Fairway To Heaven, who eventually finished fifth behind the talented Hello Captain, a subsequent Canterbury winner who later endured an unlucky defeat at Rosehill before atoning a fortnight later.

With a run under his belt, a return to firmer ground and a favourable draw in barrier two, Bruce I Am should be prominent from the outset under Schofield, and the combination of race fitness, tactical speed and a return to five furlongs suggests he has found an ideal opportunity to return to the winner's circle.

Warwick Farm Favourite - Race 6 No. 2 Superfabulistic

After taking up the running on resumption at Randwick Kensington on October 7, Superfabulistic hit a significant flat spot approaching the 300m and appeared beaten before rallying strongly to finish second, an effort that suggested she was looking for further ground.

That assessment is supported by the daughter of Super Seth's record, having won both previous attempts over 1600m, each at Warwick Farm, albeit when deeper into her previous preparation.

The latest of those victories came in a BM72 on May 20, when she scored comfortably in a race that saw five of the seven beaten runners record subsequent metropolitan victories, including runner-up The Creator, who broke through at Canterbury at his very next appearance and remained competitive in stronger BM78 and BM88 company throughout winter.

The form from her October 7 return also reads particularly well, with the race won by the talented and consistent Alabama Fox, while third placegetter Sing Your Song wasn't disgraced in last Saturday's Group 1 Thousand Guineas in Melbourne.

With the benefit of that first-up effort, a return to her preferred mile and the in-form Rachel King retaining the ride, Superfabulistic should settle prominently within the first few pairs and looks ideally placed to build on an already impressive record over this course and distance.

Asahi Super Dry Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Warwick Farm Value Bet - Race 7 No. 7 Sir Franklin

There is considerable depth to the BM72 that closes Wednesday's Warwick Farm program, which helps explain the generous odds available for Sir Franklin, although the lightly raced five-year-old has done very little wrong in a career that has produced four wins and six placings from just 12 starts.

His only two finishes outside the top three have been far from disappointing, including a fourth in a Randwick Highway in February when beaten just over two lengths, while a similar margin separated him from the winner when resuming his campaign at Rosehill on September 30.

That latest performance came after a Canterbury resumption on August 12, leaving a considerable gap between his first and second runs this preparation, and there is every reason to believe he can improve again with that September outing now behind him.

There were also excuses at Canterbury, where he raced three wide throughout and endured a tough passage, while a similar scenario unfolded in a Country Championships qualifier at Goulburn on March 22, when he covered ground three wide on the speed but fought on bravely to finish third of 16.

The main query surrounds any track upgrades, with all four career victories coming on Soft ground, although his three previous appearances on Good surfaces have been competitive, and with tactical versatility another asset, Sir Franklin looks capable of making his presence felt at attractive odds.
