The Golden Eagle 2026 Betting Odds - Odds-On for Sheza Alibi
Sheza Alibi, trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, leads the early market for The Golden Eagle 2026 with strong form and a $1.90 quote. The race, now held at Royal Randwick, has become a premier $10 million event for four-year-olds since its 2019 debut. Other key contenders include Beiwacht, Rodeo Drive, Tempted, and Well Written, all priced at $8. Despite its recent introduction, the race has attracted top local and international talent, offering major incentives to keep elite horses in work.
- Sheza Alibi tops 2026 Golden Eagle betting at $1.90 after dominant Group 1 wins
- Race offers $10 million for elite four-year-olds & is now at Royal Randwick
- Other top contenders include Beiwacht, Rodeo Drive, Tempted, and Well Written
Peter Moody tasted success in The Golden Eagle when preparing I Wish I Win to win the 2022 edition, and in partnership with Katherine Coleman, he has Sheza Alibi, who is the $1.90 favourite with Dabble for the 2026 running.
The daughter of Saxon Warrior is one of Australia's most exciting gallopers, having won her last five starts and handled the rise to Group 1 company with ease during her most recent campaign.
After comfortably accounting for three subsequent Group 1 winners in a dominant Randwick Guineas victory, Sheza Alibi was even more impressive when taking out the Doncaster Mile.
Beiwacht, Rodeo Drive, Tempted and Well Written are the next line of betting, with the quartet all sharing an $8 quote.
With two Group 1 wins in the 2025/26 season, the latest at weight-for-age level, Beiwacht commands respect, as does the Japan-based Rodeo Drive, who was last seen winning the Group 1 NHK Mile Cup on May 10.
It remains to be seen whether Tempted will be stretched beyond sprint trips again, even with the riches on offer in The Golden Eagle, while Well Written boasts a perfect six-from-six record in New Zealand.

The Golden Eagle Winners
The Golden Eagle is one of Australia's newest feature races and has quickly become a major target for the nation's best four-year-olds, providing a significant incentive for owners to keep talented colts and fillies in training rather than retiring them to stud.
First contested in 2019, the race was originally run over 1500m at Rosehill Gardens, where it remained for its first six editions before moving to Royal Randwick in 2025 as part of Racing NSW's revamped spring carnival.
Restricted to four-year-olds, The Golden Eagle was introduced to fill a gap in the racing calendar, creating a lucrative feature for horses progressing beyond their classic three-year-old campaigns. The race now carries prizemoney of $10 million, making it one of the richest events in Australian racing.
Despite its relatively short history, The Golden Eagle has already attracted elite local and international talent, with winners including Kolding (2019), Colette (2020), I'm Thunderstruck (2021), I Wish I Win (2022), Obamburumai (2023), Lake Forest (2024) and Autumn Glow (2025).
Its unique age restriction, enormous prizemoney and prime spring placement have quickly established The Golden Eagle as one of Australia's premier racing events.
