PSG vs Barcelona UEFA Champions League Tips & Prediction

Barcelona are tipped to make it 12 consecutive wins when they head to the French capital to face PSG in a Champions League blockbuster on Tuesday night.

It doesn't get much bigger than this as two-time defending winners PSG host a rampant Barcelona outfit on Matchday 3 of the Champions League.

It promises to be an electrifying encounter and goals are on the menu - lots of them.

Since the start of the 2024/25 season, these two teams rank first and second for goals scored in the Champions League, with PSG netting 134 and Barcelona notching up 130.

Barcelona have scored 48 goals in 11 straight wins to open the season with a statement, while PSG are riding a six-game winning streak heading into this clash, sending four past Man City at the Etihad on Matchday 2.

The first angle I want to play for this match is 2-4 goals to be scored in the first half - see stats below. I also like Barcelona to come out on top - this side is simply incredible and with Raphinha back from injury, they just have a ridiculous blend of attack and midfield control. But they are vulnerable at the back - as Galatasaray proved on the counter last week.

The two player props feature Lamine Yamal and Achraf Hakimi. Yamal is back to the peak of his powers and is great value to continue his brilliant run of assists, while Hakimi is always a favourite play of mine when it comes to total shots - the fullback gets into ridiculous positions going forward, almost playing as a striker when PSG have the ball and is an attractive option to fire off multiple cracks at goal.
  • Barcelona's last six away games have seen a 2-4 goals range in the first half
  • Four of the last five meetings have seen a 2-4 goals range in the first half
  • These two teams have combined for 264 goals since the start of the 2024/25 season
  • Barcelona have scored 48 goals in 11 straight wins in all comps this season
  • Barcelona have failed to keep a clean sheet in 17 straight UCL games
  • PSG have won their last six games, scoring 10 goals in their last three
  • BTTS has landed in 11 of the last 13 meetings
  • Lamine Yamal has registered four assists in two CL games this season (10 in 11 in all comps this season)
  • Achraf Hakimi has five shots in two CL games this season (2+ in both) - he also had 2+ shots in four of his five league phase appearances last year & 13 shots in six Ligue 1 games this term

PSG vs Barcelona Head To Head

These two teams have squared off on 16 occasions, with the H2H locked at six wins apiece and four draws. PSG have won the last two meetings by 2-1 and 4-1 scores on their way to back-to-back CL trophies.

PSG Form Analysis

It was a slow start to the season for PSG, but they've well and truly recaptured their mojo over the last month or so.

Luis Enrique's side come into this clash on a six-game winning streak, including a brilliant 4-2 dispatch of a previously unbeaten Manchester City at the Etihad last week on Matchday 2.

PSG became the first team to score 3+ goals in the first half of a Champions League game at the Etihad, with Desiree Doue and Ousmane Dembele both scoring and registering an assist, while Vitanha and Maghnes Akliouche also got on the scoresheet.

The two-time defending champions continued their winning momentum despite fielding a rotated squad on the weekend in Ligue 1, coming from a goal down to beat Strasbourg 3-1.

PSG Team News

Dembele has now scored in six consecutive CL games and he will be dangerous again, operating as the starting striker.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia missed the win over Man City, but should return to the starting side for this one.

PSG have suffered a big blow, with star fullback Nuno Mendes suffering a thigh injury that will rule him out for the next couple of weeks.

PSG Possible Starting XI (4-3-3): Matvey Safonov; Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Lucas Digne; Warren Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz; Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Barcelona Form Analysis

Extraordinary start to the season for Barcelona, who will be targeting their 12th win on the trot in all competitions here.

The goals are flowing, with Barcelona scoring 48 in their 11 games - including 3+ in nine straight, which equals their club record.

After coming from behind to thump Galatasaray 4-1 on Matchday 2, Barcelona maintained their winning run with another dominant performance in La Liga on the weekend, running rampant over an in-form Betis on the road, coming away with a 5-2 triumph.

That win means Barca are the first team since Real Madrid in 1968 to win their opening nine games of the La Liga season.

Barcelona Team News

Yamal was once again on fire against Galatasaray, notching up two assists - including a brilliant piece of skill with a mesmerising fake Rabona.

The teenager is looking to become just the second player in history to assist 2+ CL goals in three consecutive games.

Raphinha has scored 14 goals in nine games in all comps this season and after returning from injury off the bench in the win over Betis, could come into the starting side here at the expense of Gabriel Jesus.

Some bad news in defence though, with Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia ruled out after suffering injuries against Betis.

Barcelona Possible Starting XI (4-3-3): Joan García; Xavi Espart, Pau Cubarsí, Gerard Martin, João Cancelo; Dani Olmo, Rodri, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Anthony Gordon

Verdict

Barcelona are tipped to emerge victorious in what should be an entertaining clash with plenty of goals.
