LASK Linz vs Liverpool UEFA Champions League Tips & Prediction - Liverpool to return to winners circle

Liverpool are tipped to return to form in Austria as they face LASK Linz in UEFA Champions League action. Although Liverpool suffered a recent Premier League setback, they are predicted to win, though LASK’s strong attack could see both teams scoring. Key players like Samuel Adeniran for LASK and Alexis Mac Allister for Liverpool could play pivotal roles, with both strikers in good form. While Liverpool have conceded in most recent games, their Champions League experience should see them through, despite LASK's ability to trouble defences.

LASK Linz vs Liverpool UEFA Champions League Tips & Prediction

Liverpool are tipped to get back to winning ways in Austria, but LASK Linz can get on the scoresheet in defeat when the two sides square off on Matchday 2 of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

It was a tough afternoon at the office for Liverpool in their blockbuster Premier League showdown with Man City at the weekend, with Ryan Gravenberch's second-half send off turning the game as the Reds collapsed to a 3-0 defeat at Anfield.

Andoni Iraola's struggled to create meaningful chances in the final third as key attackers Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike sidelined with injury, along with the big midfield presence of Dominik Szoboszlai.

That opens up a shot prop opportunity for Alexis Mac Allister for this one at solid value.

Mac Allister doesn't mind a pop from distance and he registered a shot on target against City, while he also found the back of the net against Atletico on Matchday 1.

LASK are equipped with an underrated attack - they fired five goals past Celtic in qualifying and I think they can find the back of the net at home against a Reds side who have leaked 1+ goal in 12 of their last 16 games.

So Liverpool to win with both teams to score are the main plays. I'll also take a little punt on LASK striker Samuel Adeniran to work the keeper - he was on fire before breaking his cheekbone, but has come off the bench in his side's last two games and could well be in line for a return to the starting side.
  • LASK have scored 1+ goal in 18 of their last 20 games in all comps
  • LASK scored five goals vs Celtic in CL qualifying at home
  • Liverpool have conceded 1+ goal in 12 of their last 16 games in all comps
  • No Austrian team has beaten an English side in a major competition since 1991
  • Liverpool have won 25 of their last 29 CL league/group games
  • Alexis Mac Allister scored on Matchday 1 & had a shot on target vs City on the weekend
  • Samuel Adeniran ended last season by scoring in four straight games, while he had six goals in five games to begin this term before injury

LASK Linz vs Liverpool Head To Head

Liverpool won both 2023 Europa League meetings, including a 3-1 win in Linz.

LASK Linz Form Analysis

It was a brilliant start to the season for LASK as they won their opening five Austrian Bundesliga games and staged a miraculous comeback from 4-0 down against Celtic in Champions League qualifying to secure their spot in the competition proper.

However, things have quickly gone south. LASK were upstaged 1-0 on the road by AEK Athens on Matchday 1 and failed to win their last three league games, suffering defeats to both Sturm Graz and SK Rapid.

Those results leave LASK in third spot on the league ladder, five points adrift of Rapid.

LASK Linz Team News

Strikers Ramiz Harakate and Moses Usor are battling injuries, which could open the door for Adeniran to come back into the starting side.

LASK Possible Starting XI (3-4-1-2): Lukas Jungwirth; Xavier Mbuyamba, Joao Tornich, Andres Andrade; Kasper Molgaard Jorgensen, Melayro Bogarde, Robert Ljubicic, Yvan Dibango; Sascha Horvath; Sasa Kalajdzic, Samuel Adeniran

Liverpool Form Analysis

Liverpool have yet to really get going under Iraola, winning just two of their opening six Premier League games.

After suffering that humbling 3-0 defeat at Anfield against City on the weekend, Liverpool are languishing in ninth spot on the ladder and already have lots of ground to make up if they are to mount a title challenge.

The Reds were forced to come from behind to emerge victorious on Matchday 1 against Atletico, with Mac Allister firing home the winner after Szoboszlai's first half equaliser.

Liverpool Team News

Isak and Gakpo remain in doubt with the injuries that saw them miss the loss to City, while Szoboszlai is also likely to miss out again after returning from international duty with hamstring tightness.

Lewis Koumas was lively against City and could start up front again, supported by the likes of Rio Ngumoha, Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola - the latter two continue to struggle and will be hoping to lift here.

Liverpool Possible Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Ronald Araujo, Jeremy Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister; Rio Ngumoha, Florian Wirtz, Bradley Barcola; Lewis Koumas

Verdict

Liverpool should come out on top, but LASK can find the back of the net at home.
