Melbourne Victory vs FC Seoul AFC Champions League 2 Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Melbourne Victory could be in for another disappointing night following their Australia Cup final defeat when they come up against K-League runaway leaders FC Seoul on Tuesday night in the AFC Champions League 2.

Victory were stunned in Saturday night's Australia Cup final against NPL Victoria side South Melbourne, conceding an equaliser in the final minutes of extra-time before going down on penalties.

Giovanni Savarese's side now must dust themselves off for a Matchday 2 showdown with FC Seoul, who are dominating in the K-League this term.

Seoul need just four points from their seven remaining games to secure the silverware, enjoying an 18-point buffer at the top of the table, winning 20 of their 31 games in the league.

However, Seoul suffered a surprise loss at home on Matchday 1 to Indonesian side Persib, so they will be determined to avoid back-to-back defeats here.

The Korean club couldn't have asked for a better time to face Victory, who are reeling from that Australia Cup final defeat and also preparing for the start of the new A-League season this weekend.

I'm backing Seoul to pile more misery on Victory in a game that features Under 2.5 goals.
  • Victory have seen Under 2.5 goals in seven of their last eight games in all comps
  • Seoul have seen Under 2.5 goals in four of their last eight games
  • Both teams saw Under 2.5 goals in their Matchday 1 fixtures
  • Victory are coming off a loss to NPL Victoria side South Melbourne in the Australia Cup final
  • Seoul are top of the K-League by 18 points, winning 20 of their 31 league games this season

Melbourne Victory vs FC Seoul Head To Head

These two teams have played twice before, with both earning home wins in 2020.

Melbourne Victory Form Analysis

Victory's preseason ended on a sour note as they were stunned by South Melbourne in the Australia Cup final this past weekend.

After a 0-0 stalemate at the end of normal time, Victory went ahead five minutes into extra-time courtesy of Denis Genreau.

However, Victory couldn't hold on as South equalised with three minutes remaining before scoring all four of their penalties to secure a famous win in one of the biggest nights in Australian club football history.

Victory will be looking for their first win in this season's AFC Champions League 2 after being held to a 1-1 draw in Vietnam by Viettel on Matchday 1.

Melbourne Victory Team News

Brazilian winger Clarismario opened the scoring for Victory in that opening draw with Viettel and should hold down a starting spot on the wing.

Uruguayan attacker Guillermo May is an option to come into the starting side after a lively performance off the bench in the Australia Cup.

Melbourne Victory Possible Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Jack Duncan; Joshua Inserra, Tom Lockyer, Jason Davidson, Franco Lino; Jordi Valadon, Xavier Stella; Keegan Jelacic, Matthew Grimaldi, Clarismario Santos; Guillermo May

FC Seoul Form Analysis

FC Seoul are enjoying a tremendous season domestically as they chase a seventh K-League title.

With two rounds remaining before the league splits, Seoul only need to take four points from the next seven fixtures to be crowned champions.

Kim Gi-dong's side are coming off a 2-1 home win over Jeju SK this past weekend, but they were disappointing in their opening Champions League game, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Persib.

FC Seoul Team News

A-League followers will know of Polish striker Patryk Klimala, with the former Sydney FC striker scoring 14 goals in the K-League this term.

Klimala was also on target in last weekend's win over Jeju and has four goals in his last four appearances.

FC Seoul Possible Starting XI (4-4-2): Kang Hyeon-mu; Ahn Jae-min, Lee Sang-min, Lee Han-do, Shin Ji-seop; Park Jang Han-gyeol, Ko Pil-gwan, Kim Min-jun, Jeong Hyeon-woo; Cheon Seong-hoon, Patryk Klimala
