Safe to say it wasn't an ideal start to Newcastle's Asian Champions League Elite campaign after they were throttled 7-1 in Japan on Matchday 1 by Kashima.
Gamba actually played Kashima in the J-League this past weekend and only suffered a 2-0 defeat, so therein lies a hint of the gulf in quality between the two teams.
