Caulfield hosts an eight-race midweek program on Wednesday, October 14, with several progressive gallopers and established metropolitan performers in action.
The card also features the Listed Coongy Handicap, while a number of lightly raced runners look capable of progressing through the grades across the supporting races.

Caulfield Value Bet - Race 2 No. 8 Cliff Runner
Spelled after two appearances in March, Cliff Runner was gelded ahead of his three-year-old season and returned with a stylish maiden victory at Seymour on August 27.
The 1200m looked short of his best that day, but the Danny O’Brien-trained gelding tracked the leaders from midfield before coming to the outside and finishing strongly to score on a Heavy 8 surface.
That effort earned him a shot at the Listed Exford Plate second-up, where he settled well back before producing the fastest last 600m and 400m of the race, only peaking late after being forced into a wide and sustained run.
He was more or less outclassed in the Stutt Stakes next time but again stuck to his task against a useful group of three-year-olds, with the quinella subsequently competitive in last Saturday’s Caulfield Guineas and third-placed Skyroll going on to earn a Group 3 placing in Sydney.
This is much better placement back in BM70 company against his own age, while first-time blinkers, barrier one and the booking of Lachlan Neindorf should allow the son of Ardrossan to enjoy a much more economical run than in his past two starts, making him an each-way chance.

Caulfield Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 3 Loud Charlie
Lloyd Kennewell can continue to take Loud Charlie through the grades, with the son of Prague having finished outside the placings only once in six starts and recording three victories.
That sole miss came at Group 3 level in the C.S. Hayes Stakes in February, while he had won a Sandown maiden over Saludar immediately beforehand, with third-placed The Benchmark also winning at his following appearance.
Loud Charlie then scored at Caulfield Heath on March 4 before finishing third there two weeks later behind Savitri, giving 5kg to the winner, who subsequently competed at Group 1 level before returning this spring with a dominant Mornington victory and another good performance at Group 3 level at Caulfield last Saturday.
Despite carrying plenty of weight, he rises only 0.5kg from his slick first-up Caulfield Heath victory on September 16 under Mark Zahra, who has partnered him for his past two wins, and he has been kept up to the mark with a quiet 800m trial on October 1 where he was not knocked about.
There is not a huge spread in the weights across this BM70, and with Loud Charlie still possessing more upside than most of his rivals, Zahra retaining the ride from barrier one and the gelding arriving on the fresh side, he looks capable of making it four wins from seven starts.

Caulfield Roughie - Race 6 No. 11 House Of Lords
With back-to-back victories following a first-up second behind the smart Encanto Star, Yauson shapes as the horse to beat, but there may not be a great deal of depth behind the favourite and House Of Lords appeals as a roughie for quaddies, exotics or an each-way play.
Peter Gelagotis’ mare could be a sharp improver fourth-up as she drops in grade, finally draws a favourable barrier and reunites with Ben Allen, who partnered her to victory at Bendigo over 2200m on May 2 before her spell.
There was some depth around that Bendigo performance, with third, fourth and fifth all producing solid metropolitan form around that period, including So Suave, who was a comfortable Sydney winner at his next appearance, while runner-up Jareth had also brought consistent form into the race, including a third to the smart Zakouma.
Her first-up run over 1400m on August 15 was effectively a barrier trial after getting well back in a leader-dominated race over an unsuitable trip, while the second-up effort behind the flying Changing Colours was better than it reads after she produced the fastest last 600m from an impossible position.
House Of Lords was then set too big a task at Mornington last time, but now has a 2000m run under the belt, receives far more favours from barrier four and, despite being one of the outsiders of the field, is capable of producing a much better performance.
Sportsbet Coongy Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Caulfield Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Darkbonee
Darkbonee appears well enough found as the early favourite despite arriving off two defeats, although there were genuine excuses when fifth-of-13 in the Group 3 JRA Cup at Caulfield on September 27 after covering ground throughout.
The Symon Wilde-trained gelding had disappointed as favourite at the same track third-up beforehand and was entitled to do more despite having some excuses, but that assignment was considerably stronger than what he faces here.
His second-up victory on August 15 remains the standout reference, with Darkbonee putting more than two lengths on Group 1 winner Light Infantry Man, who subsequently finished runner-up to Cosmic Crusader in the Turnbull Stakes.
The tactical question is where Darkbonee settles, but barrier one should allow Damian Lane to keep things simple and potentially secure a box-seat position rather than asking the gelding to cover unnecessary ground.
Lane is chasing a third win in the Coongy Handicap after taking out last year’s edition aboard Wootton Verni, while Autumn Mystery is another worth including after improving second- and third-up and coming through the same JRA Cup.

Caulfield Best Bet - Race 8 No. 8 Swift Force
Tasmanian visitor Swift Force brings an unbeaten first-up record into the final race at Caulfield on Wednesday and is already proven over this track and trip after a high-rating return victory on May 9.
Craig Newitt has won three of four rides aboard the daughter of Magnus, including that Melbourne success, while her only defeat during the partnership came when she started a $1.50 favourite over 1200m here on May 30.
Swift Force raced keenly in front on that Heavy 8 surface and was unable to finish off, but there was still merit in the performance given she was comfortably the best of the on-speed runners, with Bedtime Angel beaten more than 10 lengths and Southern Crescent finishing second-last after settling third.
Dropping back to 1100m holds no concerns despite her being proven over further, while a slick trial victory on September 22 suggests she is forward enough to produce another strong fresh performance.
Proven on both Good and Soft ground and perhaps better suited away from the testing Heavy conditions she struck last time, Swift Force can atone for that defeat and continue building on an excellent first-up record.
