- Prestigious fillies’ race now run on Caulfield Cup Day; past winners include Alinghi & Miss Finland
The Thousand Guineas brings together the leading three-year-old fillies over the Caulfield mile on Saturday, October 17, with the Group 1 feature forming part of a blockbuster Caulfield Cup Day program.
Chayan heads early betting at $8 with BetRight as the Annabel and Rob Archibald-trained filly builds towards a major spring campaign.
The daughter of I Am Invincible established herself among the better juvenile fillies during the autumn, winning the Group 2 Reisling Stakes at Randwick by three lengths before finishing eighth in the Golden Slipper.
She has since returned to the trials, finishing a close second over 1030m at Rosehill on August 21, as connections prepare her for the longer three-year-old fillies features during the spring.
Global Goal, Pretty Baby, Satono Glow, Streisand and Miss Chanel share the next line of betting at $11.
Pretty Baby has emerged as one of the more progressive fillies in the market, winning her past three starts and earning a trip to Melbourne.
The Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle-trained filly won the Listed Oaklands Plate over 1400m before returning with two further victories in Adelaide, with the Thousand Guineas now confirmed as her major spring target. She is nominated to make her Melbourne debut in the Atlantic Jewel Stakes at Sandown on September 5.
Satono Glow also brings stakes-winning credentials into the spring after producing a dominant victory at Flemington during the autumn.
The John O'Shea and Tom Charlton-trained filly won her first two starts before progressing into stronger company, giving her an appealing profile as she stretches towards 1600m.
Streisand already has Group 1 form on the board after winning the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield in February.
The Clinton McDonald-trained filly defeated Closer To Free and Guest House over 1200m and now faces the challenge of stretching her brilliance out to the mile during the spring.
Miss Chanel adds another proven juvenile form line, having finished runner-up in the Group 1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick during the autumn.
Global Goal completes the group of $11 chances and is also prominent in early Flight Stakes markets, underlining the depth among this season's three-year-old fillies.

Thousand Guineas History
The Thousand Guineas is a relatively younger addition to the Australian racing calendar compared to many of Melbourne’s traditional spring features, having first been contested in 1946 when Sweet Chime claimed the inaugural edition.
The race was elevated to Group 1 status in 1979 and, from 1988 to 2013, was traditionally staged on the Wednesday of the Caulfield Cup Carnival.
A series of programming changes followed, including a stint on Caulfield Guineas Day and later a move to November after the Melbourne Cup Carnival, before the Thousand Guineas shifted to Caulfield Cup Day from 2025.
Run over 1600m for three-year-old fillies, the race has produced an outstanding honour roll featuring champions and elite performers including Alinghi, Miss Finland, Atlantic Jewel and Jameka.
The most recent winners are Joliestar in 2023, Another Prophet in 2024 and Ole Dancer, who claimed the 2025 edition.
