Midway Handicap Tips (Race 1)
Randwick Favourite - Race 1 No. 1 Felix Majestic
Felix Majestic may be deep into a winning drought, but this is the easiest assignment he has seen in some time as he drops back into Midway company.
The Gary Nickson-trained gelding has turned a corner of late, narrowly missing in a Benchmark 78 over 1400m at Rosehill on August 1 before producing another brave effort over the same track and trip a fortnight later.
All six of his career wins have come on Good ground, so any upgrade from the current Soft 5 rating would further enhance his chances on Saturday.
He carries 60.5kg after Molly Bourke's claim, which leaves him reasonably treated considering he was carrying similar weights in stronger races earlier this year, including a two-length Benchmark 88 defeat at Canterbury on June 8 when covering ground.
With his rating beginning to ease, race fitness on his side and the tactical speed to offset a wide draw, Felix Majestic only needs to hold his recent form to be hard to beat and it would be no surprise to see him start favourite.
TAB Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Randwick Value Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Alabama State
The main query with Alabama State is remaining at 1200m after two runs over the trip to open his campaign, but he should now be ready to peak third-up.
His July trial work at Randwick suggested he had returned in good order, and that was backed up by a solid resumption last month when well supported at an each-way price and forced to sustain a wide run from the rear before finishing fourth.
With no previous second-up form to his name, his August 22 effort was about as well as he could be expected to perform at that stage of a preparation after travelling wide without cover from the 600m.
That was another sound performance which should have topped him off nicely, while his previous campaign included a Midway victory over 1350m at Rosehill on January 31.
Although yet to win at Randwick, he produced two competitive efforts in this grade last preparation and Jason Collett has options aboard a tactically versatile horse who now has a fitness base.
Kia Ora Stud Furious Stakes Tips (Race 6)
Randwick Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Pembrey
A strong first-up victory in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes over this track and distance has Pembrey well placed to continue her progression on Saturday.
The Tony Gollan-trained filly controlled that August 16 contest from the front and was dominant in victory, having previously shown plenty of promise during a first campaign that included success at Group 3 level.
Her preparation came to an end when backing up seven days later in the Golden Slipper, while an earlier Group 2 defeat in Sydney also came with excuses after she did not appreciate being ridden colder.
Pembrey has never been defeated when able to take up the lead, making her preferred racing pattern relatively straightforward from barrier seven under Tommy Berry.
If Berry can establish a comfortable rhythm in front and keep unbeaten filly Chilly Girl at bay in the early stages, Pembrey will take catching once again.
Myplates Tramway Stakes Tips (Race 7)
Randwick Best Bet - Race 7 No. 7 Idle Flyer
An unbeaten second-up record goes on the line for Idle Flyer on Saturday, with the mare a perfect four-from-four at this stage of her preparations.
Her most recent second-up appearance produced a heavily supported victory over 1500m on March 28 under Zac Lloyd, who is back aboard here after also partnering her to Group 1 Queen of the Turf success third-up in autumn.
That Randwick triumph came at weight-for-age level and at the expense of multiple Group 1 winners Lady Shenandoah, Treasurethe Moment and Private Jenny, highlighting the level Idle Flyer reached after working through the grades with ease last season.
Her first-up record is not as strong, but she was far from disgraced at a big price in the Winx Stakes on August 22, warming into the race late and producing the third-fastest final 200m of that Group 1.
Staying at 1400m is no concern this early in the campaign and, with upside to go along with an already tidy overall record, her turn-of-foot can prove decisive with even luck.
Catanach's Jewellers Concorde Stakes Tips (Race 8)
Randwick Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 5 Roselyn's Star
The Concorde Stakes does not look entirely straightforward around the market leaders, opening the door for Roselyn's Star as an each-way option.
Tempted deserves favouritism given her excellent sprint record, although she has not raced over 1000m since her debut victory and with Godolphin having an Everest slot, she may not be completely screwed down.
Last year's winner Headwall is another talented sprinter with the class to figure, but he has not raced since taking out this event 12 months ago.
Roselyn's Star comes here race-ready after ending his autumn with a Group 3 victory, winning over 1000m on a Heavy 9 in July and then producing an impressive recent Rosehill trial.
The O'Shea and Charlton-trained galloper maps well and could be the each-way play, while slick 1000m performer Steady Ready is a roughie capable of giving a sight up front.
The Agency Real Estate Handicap Tips (Race 10)
Randwick Roughie - Race 10 No. 10 Starphistocated
There was enough merit in Starphistocated's July 18 return to suggest she was building towards another competitive preparation.
The mare was allowed to find her feet at the rear over 1300m and closed strongly, recording the third-fastest final 400m and 200m of the race despite having no first-up win to her name and doing her best work over further.
Even with an okay tick-over trial, she was still five weeks between runs heading into the Goulburn Cup on August 23, where she was never comfortable when wide, back and chasing throughout in a fast-run race.
That outing should improve her fitness considerably, while she was a third-up Midway winner last campaign before stepping sharply in grade and finishing runner-up in the Group 3 Aspiration Quality over this track-and-trip.
A kinder draw than the wide gates she has faced in both winter runs should allow Starphistocated to settle closer, and at a big price she looks an appealing each-way chance in the last.
