Statuario (barrier 3) relished the rise to 2400m last start when winning the Galilee Series Final at Caulfield and the son of D'argento has completed a trial since that April 5 performance.

The three-year-old won two races over a long first campaign and now with four runs completed this prep, he has a good platform for Saturday's Group 1 assignment.

John Allen stays aboard Statuario and the Irishman is aiming for his fifth win in the South Australian Derby.

With runner-up finishes via his last two outings, Lavalier (barrier 15) has been building well and the rise in distance should suit off his chasing performance in last Saturday's Chairman's Stakes.

The Godolphin galloper is superbly bred, with Lavalier a younger sibling to five stakes winners and that includes Epaulette and Helmet (both Group 1 winners).

American Wolf (barrier 11) arrives off back-to-back victories in Victoria and he showed his staying prowess last start with a brave win in the VRC St Leger (2800m).

Mark Zahra takes the reins on the son of Tivaci and the star hoop was in terrific form on the opening day of the Adelaide Racing Carnival, with a hat-trick recorded last Saturday and that includes a Group 1 double.

Chase Your Dreams (barrier 19) is a daughter of Contributer who impressed at Echuca last time out when bolting over 2100m and 2500m shouldn't worry her off that April 18 performance.

Fillies have saluted in three of the last ten South Australian Derbies, which includes Coco Sun (last year's winner).

Mick Price and Michael Kent (Jnr) prepared Jungle Magnate to win the 2022 South Australian Derby and they train Global Eclipse (barrier 6), who was a six-length maiden winner at Cranbourne on april 18.

His early campaign form around Belle Detelle (subsequent Group 3 winner) and Miss Alexis (competitive twice at Group level) has stood up in Sydney.

Politely Dun (barrier 2) was well-held as runner-up behind Statuario in the Galilee Series Final, but he was still strong late and the three-year-old put one length on Litzdeel, a stablemate who then pushed American Wolf in the VRC St Leger.

Snoopy Now (barrier 8) is one of the main local contenders and the Port Adelaide Guineas winner backed up his Listed success with a good chasing effort in the Chairman's Stakes (second-fastest last 200m of the race).
