Caulfield Guineas Day headlines a massive Saturday program, with three Group 1 races and several other key spring features spread across the 10-race card.

The $3 million Caulfield Guineas is the main event, while the Might And Power Stakes and Toorak Handicap complete the Group 1 treble. The Herbert Power Stakes and Schillaci Stakes add further depth to one of the most famous racedays of the Melbourne spring.

Our race-by-race betting tips and selections for Caulfield are below, with broader sports coverage available through Live Racing & Sports Updates.

Caulfield Tips October 10

Race 1 - Beverly Handicap Tips (1700m)

There is good depth to the opening BM80, but 6. Veyepee has made a compelling start to his campaign with two wins from as many appearances.

The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained gelding was particularly impressive at Mornington on September 26, covering ground before Blake Shinn rode him with confidence to put the race away. Shinn was also aboard for his first-up Sandown victory over 1500m.

Both wins this preparation have come on soft ground, although Veyepee was equally effective on firmer tracks during his first campaign. He is tactically versatile and Shinn is one of best in the business, especially from wide draws.

8. Classic Gem finally broke through first-up after racing competitively in stronger company as a three-year-old. She sustained a wide run in that victory and the result should give her some confidence. Her previous Caulfield appearance produced a second behind the smart Getta Good Feeling and the extra 300m second-up suits. She could easily attract support at double-figure odds.

9. In'Kantostar chases four straight victories and continues to progress despite still doing a little wrong in his races. The younger brother to Jimmysstar handled the rise to metropolitan company well last start.

10. Just Desserts has won three straight since his debut and continues to work through the grades. This is another rise in class, but his last two on-speed efforts have been strong.

Selections: 6-8-9-10.

Race 2 - Thoroughbred Club of Australia Plate Tips (1200m)

An even group of three-year-old fillies contest the second and 10. Roseatic is an each-way hope.

The daughter of Hanseatic returned looking a much stronger filly when breaking through impressively at Moe on September 24, controlling the race from the front and putting a big margin on odds-on favourite Mr Natural. That maiden rated well for the card.

That form received a boost when Mr Natural subsequently won impressivley at Geelong. This is a step up in class, but Jye McNeil remains aboard and Roseatic should again get every chance to make her own luck on speed.

2. Moana Spirit won her first two starts during the summer before pulling up lame in the Blue Diamond Prelude. She was given time afterwards and there may have been a small setback given the gap between her August and September jump-outs, but her latest Flemington hit-out was encouraging.

9. Fiery Fun used the experience of a solid debut in a good maiden to bolt in at Seymour on September 10 and has since completed another trial at Mornington. There appears to be some upside there.

6. Almost An Angel is a roughie who may appreciate dropping back in trip, with some of her sprint references stronger than her price suggests.

Selections: 10-2-9-6.

Race 3 - Evergreen Turf Vase Tips (1600m)

Mitchell Freedman has a progressive mare in 9. Savitri, who has already won four of eight starts and still looks to have further improvement to come.

She raced too keenly first-up at Sandown but bounced back emphatically at Mornington on September 26, bolting in despite carrying 62kg.

The daughter of So You Think was also a Caulfield winner over 1700m during the autumn before finishing her campaign with a respectable effort in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks.

Savitri arrives hard fit against her own sex and should settle handy under John Allen. The set-weights-and-penalties conditions are not ideal, (go bavk to notes mentioning others having built record more time etc) but she still drops significantly in weight from her latest victory and this looks a good opportunity to add some black type.

12. Moonlight Circus had little luck first-up and was again better than the result in the Stocks Stakes, where she finished fifth behind Changing Colours after beginning slowly. She is going well enough to be competitive here and is potentially one for the each-way players.

1. Surfin' Bird brings solid Golden Pendant form from Sydney and has was a gig winner in her only previous Caulfield start, while 5. On Display had no luck first-up in the Let's Elope Stakes and this is no harder.

Selections: 9-12-1-5.

Race 4 - Sportsbet Herbert Power Stakes Tips (2400m)

4. Zakouma already has a Melbourne Cup ticket secured following his Ramsden Stakes victory and looks ideally placed to continue building towards that target.

He returned with the fastest last 200m of Heatherlie Stakes before again doing his best work late in the Naturalism Stakes on September 19, where the eventual quinella sprinted away and crowded him at a key stage when doing so, costing him momentum.

The rise to 2400m third-up is exactly what he is looking for and this appears slightly easier than his first two assignments.

9. Machine Gun Gracie should now be approaching peak fitness with three runs completed this preparation. Winkers go on for the rise to 2400m and, despite drawing wider, Luke Currie can roll forward and offset that.

Her staying credentials are already established, with her only two previous attempts at the trip resulting in wins in the WA Oaks and WATC Derby. She has improved steadily with each run this campaign and could be peaking now.

12. Pinhole remains a lightly raced Chris Waller import with upside. His first Australian attempt at 2400m produced a win before a Stayers Cup defeat, and he improved from a solid return to win at Rosehill on September 26. James McDonald taking the ride is another positive.

13. Strictly Business is an out-and-out stayer whose previous runs beyond 2000m produced a VRC Oaks win and South Australian Derby second.

Selections: 4-9-12-13.

Race 5 - HKJC World Pool Northwood Plume Stakes Tips (1200m)

2. Point Barrow had the sharper sharper turn-of-foot when defeating Bridal Waltz in the How Now Stakes, where the daughter of Blue Point improved sharply on firmer ground and she can confirm that form on Saturday.

The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained mare has an excellent record at Caulfield, with a perfect three-from-three over the 1200m here and is at her best when allowed to find her feet before producing one run. Barrier 13 should give Mark Zahra the chance to keep her clear of traffic and use those tactics again.

Track pattern will be important, and we'll know by the fifth event if they're able to make ground out wider.

7. Bridal Waltz remains the obvious danger. She was beaten fair and square as an odds-on favourite by Point Barrow last start, but there was nothing wrong with the performance and she has repeatedly shown she belongs around this grade.

Earlier in the year she was narrowly beaten over this distance at Group 1 level in Adelaide after producing an unlucky run in The Galaxy. Whether she is quite at that level this campaign remains the question, but she is honest, well drawn and should again get every opportunity.

6. Hearcomesthestar was a Listed winner here in May and should have finished closer in the How Now Stakes, giving her some appeal at longer odds.

1. Abounding can improve sharply with blinkers back on after failing to handle the Flemington straight first-up.

Selections: 2-7-6-1.

Race 6 - Henley Homes Schillaci Stakes Tips (1100m)

Cindy Alderson has done an outstanding job with 1. Jigsaw, who returns looking to extend his winning sequence to eight.

The eight-year-old reached a new level last campaign, taking out the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Caulfield before travelling west to win The Quokka.

His lead-up work has again been strong, with two comfortable Cranbourne jump-out wins, and barrier one should allow Logan Bates to control the race from the outset. The pair have developed an excellent partnership and Jigsaw remains the clear starting point.

8. Flying For Fun deserves more respect than her first-up result in The Shorts may suggest. She found restricted room late in a strong edition of that race and had shown plenty of quality last season, including two stakes wins.

Her Group 3 victory at Rosehill came over this distance and she arguably should have won the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide. With cleaner air this time, she has enough quality to test the favourite.

2. Rey Magnerio has good fresh statistics, three Caulfield wins and was last seen finishing behind Jigsaw in The Quokka. His Gold Rush form through Cosmic Crusader has also worked out well.

6. Grand Larceny was a fresh winner last campaign before placing in The Goodwood and has enough quality to feature.

Selections: 1-8-2-6.

Race 7 - Sportsbet Might And Power Tips (2000m)

The defining question in the Might And Power Stakes is whether 6. Sheza Alibi can stretch her brilliance to 2000m for the first time.

Her Winx Stakes return was perfectly sound when second to Autumn Glow before she improved sharply in Melbourne, dominating the Makybe Diva Stakes by 2.75 lengths over the Flemington mile.

The ease with which she tracked into that race was the standout feature, following Sir Delius before accelerating past the Cox Plate favourite and putting the result away quickly.

Caulfield is another positive, with two wins and a third from three appearances at the track, while her third-up profile is particularly strong. She produced a dominant Sandown Guineas win at the same stage last spring before winning the Doncaster Mile third-up during the autumn.

The 2000m is the remaining question, but there has been nothing in the way she races or finishes to suggest it is beyond her.

5. Treasurethe Moment improved markedly when second to Pride Of Jenni in the Feehan Stakes on September 27.

Her Memsie Stakes return was sound before a flat Makybe Diva effort, but the latest performance suggested she is ready to peak. She has repeatedly produced some of her best racing at Caulfield and may now be looking for this trip as a five-year-old.

With race fitness, proven track form and the ability to roll forward, she is a genuine danger at the price.

1. Birdman continues to progress. His autumn culminated in a Doomben Cup victory over Pride Of Jenni, while his latest win over Cosmic Crusader received an enormous boost when that horse dominated the Turnbull Stakes.

4. Kingswood can round out the selections after a fresh win over 1700m and a solid effort in the Underwood Stakes after working early.

Selections: 6-5-1-4.

Race 8 - Sportsbet Caulfield Guineas Tips (1600m)

The progression of 2. Warwoven through the spring has been impossible to ignore.

The Bjorn Baker-trained colt improved from a solid San Domenico Stakes return to win the Run To The Rose before taking another huge step in the Group 1 Golden Rose on September 26.

Warwoven put more than three lengths on a field containing Guest House, Tron Bolt and Campione D'Italia, with the way he relaxed before producing his acceleration particularly encouraging ahead of his first attempt at 1600m.

There are new variables in travelling to Melbourne and racing anti-clockwise for the first time, but stamina is unlikely to be an issue. His dam Needle And Thread won the Group 2 Royal Stakes over 2000m, while the wider family includes Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Solemia.

His Golden Rose win is clearly the strongest form in the race and he looks the one they have to beat.

5. Blind Raise leads the Victorian challenge after winning four of five starts.

He returned with a McKenzie Stakes victory before producing an authoritative display in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude, winning by 2.75 lengths after remaining composed when pressure arrived earlier than expected.

That is clearly the strongest local form line and his Caulfield experience is another advantage. Barrier two gives Blake Shinn every chance to secure the right position and make Warwoven come past him.

11. Call Me Coach faces a sharp rise in grade but brings genuine X-factor.

The unbeaten son of Dundeel won a Hawkesbury Super Maiden before heading south and comfortably scoring over 1400m at Cranbourne. Mark Zahra remains aboard and the pedigree suggests the mile will suit.

The question is whether this Group 1 comes too soon against more seasoned horses, but he has more upside than most of the runners at each-way odds.

4. Tron Bolt has a big margin to turn around on Warwoven but is already a Group 1 winner over the mile and this has long been his spring target. Classy youngster, but maybe looking for even more ground.

Selections: 2-5-11-4.

Race 9 - Hyland Race Colours Toorak Handicap Tips (1600m)

The Toorak has looked the target all preparation for 8. Sabaj, who has used two 1400m runs to build towards the mile.

He was well beaten in the Memsie Stakes first-up but improved significantly in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, even if the 12th-place finish does not reflect it.

After conceding a sizeable start, Sabaj produced the fastest final 200m of the Group 1 and the third-fastest closing sectional of the entire meeting.

Blinkers go on for the first time and he drops to 54kg under handicap conditions. His third-up Cranbourne Cup victory over 1600m last spring is another strong pointer, while his unlucky All-Star Mile performance earlier this year reads well for a race like this.

This looks the point of the preparation where he can spike

6. Regal Award produced an excellent Sir Rupert Clarke return, racing on speed and holding third behind Angel Capital and Sepals.

He can race keenly, which makes Lachlan Neindorf retaining the ride important. Their previous form includes a Fred Best Classic victory over Skyhook and a Carbine Club Stakes second to Panova, both of which read well for this.

With the fresh run behind him and the mile looking suitable, he has every chance to improve again.

10. Panova is the big-priced Chris Waller runner worth respecting. She has a perfect record racing anti-clockwise, highlighted by her Carbine Club Stakes win over Regal Award, before progressing to Group 1 success in the Australasian Oaks.

William Pike takes the ride and she has enough class to make her presence felt if the track does not become too testing.

13. Changing Colours has won four straight since joining Lucy Yeomans and handled the rise to Group 2 company in the Stocks Stakes. She now drops to 52kg and arrives hard fit.

Selections: 8-6-10-13.

Race 10 - Nationwide Weekend Hussler Stakes Tips (1400m)

At a big price, 9. Fireball Miss is the runner with the most upside in a very open finale.

The Queensland Oaks winner has completed only one preparation and showed enough speed early in her career to suggest she is far from simply a staying mare.

She was unlucky over 1200m on debut before winning a 1500m Super Maiden and remained competitive at shorter trips before progressing through the Queensland staying features.

Fireball Miss holds an Empire Rose Stakes nomination over the mile, so she should be forward enough to be competitive at 1400m fresh and Declan Bates knows her well, having ridden her several times last preparation, including victories in The Roses and Queensland Oaks.

Against a field containing plenty of exposed profiles, she is the runner who may still have another level to find.

12. Harry's Yacht continues to build towards a win and has a strong Caulfield record.

He did his best work late first-up over 1100m before missing a run in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and instead contesting the Testa Rossa Stakes with a month between runs. He again finished off well in a leader dominated race and will only strip fitter.

That gives him a solid platform third-up and he looks one of the safer chances in a difficult race.

4. Regal Zeus controlled the Testa Rossa Stakes from the front and may again be allowed to dictate, particularly if the track is playing favourably towards on-speed runners.

2. Pinstriped is capable of improving sharply back to 1400m after failing to run out a strong 1800m in the Underwood Stakes, with his earlier runs this preparation are good enough to be included here.

Selections: 9-12-4-2.
