Major races of the Adelaide Racing Carnival
There are four Group One races ran as part of the Adelaide's Autumn Racing Carnival.
The first major race is the Adelaide Oaks, which is held on the first weekend, then the TAB Classic (Robert Sangster Stakes) and the South Australian Derby before the carnival closes out with The Goodwood, which is worth $1 million.
Adelaide Racing Carnival History
The Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival is the yearly highlight of horse racing in South Australia.
The carnival kicks off in March, but the Group One racing doesn't begin off until May, with the South Australian Oaks and TAB Classic sharing equal billing on the opening day of the festival.
While it does share equal billing with the Sydney and Melbourne autumn festivals, most of the major races do not overlap.
The Carnival concludes with Goodwood Day, which along with the Group One Goodwood boasts four Group three races.
