With 10 wins and 11 placings from 28 starts, Rey Magnerio (barrier 5) has been a remarkably consistent sprinter throughout his career.

The six-year-old will contest The Goodwood third-up, having resumed with a competitive sixth-of-11 finish in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes before heading west for a runner-up effort behind the in-form Jigsaw in The Quokka.

Lightly raced filly Extragalactic (barrier 6) has shown above-average ability across two campaigns and has continued to improve this autumn, opening her 2026 account with back-to-back victories.

While a hat-trick eluded the filly on April 25, she still caught the eye when finishing second in the Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes, a race that has produced two of the past three winners of The Goodwood.

Flying For Fun (barrier 10) has also been in strong form, opening the autumn campaign with a Group 3 victory before an unlucky fourth-of-13 finish in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes last start.

Tycoon Star (barrier 16) secured a third stakes success in the Tobin Bronze Stakes, following runner-up finishes at both his first and second runs this preparation, and the gelding has now won two of his past three attempts over 1200m.

Recon (barrier 11) has won six of 11 starts, including a comfortable Listed Hareeba Stakes victory when second-up at Mornington, and the gelding progressed quickly through the grades last year.

Watchme Win (barrier 12) is one of the leading local chances, arriving here off back-to-back Group 3 seconds to open the campaign, the latest in the John Hawkes Stakes won by Grand Larceny (barrier 14).

Enriched (barrier 3) has won a jump-out since contesting The Galaxy, while there is a Western Australian presence in The Goodwood, with Super Smink (barrier 13) and Talkanco (barrier 2) both accepting.

The Goodwood Winners

The Goodwood stands as South Australia’s flagship sprint, regularly drawing high-quality fields from leading stables across both the southern and eastern states.

Contested over 1200m at Morphettville, the race has been run since 1881 and remains a key target for Australia’s top sprinters throughout the Adelaide Autumn Carnival.

The honour roll features some of the sport’s greats, including Takeover Target and Black Caviar, reinforcing its reputation as one of the country’s premier Group 1 events.

In recent years, Royal Merchant (2023), Benedetta (2024), and Reserve Bank (2025) have added their names to the list of winners.
