ASCOT

Race 2 - Capo Veloce (fifth): First-up since June and versus race-fit rivals here over 1000m, this gelding is the three-year-old from this with the most improvement, especially as he gets more ground (finished his first campaign with two 1400m attempts). Slow away and finding the five furlongs too slick, he was also working home without a heap of galloping room, but was good through the line.

Race 7 - Senorita Dorotea (fifth): A lightly raced four-year-old with upside, the late money was of surprise, with Senorita Dorotea starting fav in a modest affair. With a slow start and then working home in restricted room, nothing has gone right here fresh, yet at 33.66, she's recorded easily the fastest last 600m of this. She improved second-up last prep with a win, so is worth another chance.

DOOMBEN

Race 7 - Vaccine (second): Absolutely no luck at a vital stage of the race, this mare had to sneak runs up along the inside while the eventual winner cruised into the race with all the momentum in the world. Back to 72 grade here saw her hard to beat and with a potential colder ride and off the fence, she arguably wins the race with full momentum. Will be hard to beat next start in this grade.
Race 9 - Orbisyn (fourth): He did all the hard work out in front and was not disgraced when beaten three-lengths. He was still three-lengths in front with 200m left to run, but did puncture late coming back in trip after going so quick through the middle stages. He is hard fit and although the sort that needs things to go his own way, we know he can do damage up in trip from the 1200-1400m range.

GAWLER

Race 4 - Lotto Fight (fifth): First-up over 1100m at start two, there wasn't much intent with this filly, who will improve as she gets over more ground and there was plenty to like about this resumption, with the three-year-old only balancing up late in race that did suit those closer to the speed. With a kinder draw, Lotto Fight likely runs third here, as she was only a stride off grabbing that position.

Race 6 - Nottaris (third): Fresh in his second prep for new trainer Kristi Evans, Nottaris was the pick of the chasers behind an in-form winner and Rialtor, a quinella that have won 12 races between them, whereas this five-year-old is Class 1 eligible and has a rating of only 56, so there's easier options around than a metro BM64. With a drop in grade and better draw, he'll go very close next start.

MOONEE VALLEY

Race 3 - Berry Bubbly (seventh): Probably the best seventh that you see, but what we have learnt is that this track is one that she performs consistently at. A filly with a rating of just 62, she has been tested in six stakes races across her 11-start career, so heading into next start she looks the type that could open up at a price given the seventh next to her name, and be backed quickly given the luck and the lower grade that she is eligible to race in.
Race 9 - San Fabrizio (sixth): It was a solid effort from this gelding, who did not get around the Moonee Valley track all that well, yet still came home well to finish with the second fastest last 200m of the race. Is yet to be tested beyond the mile journey in his Australian career, and although was at his best at 1600m overseas, he appears to be looking for more ground and a bigger track.

RANDWICK

Race 3 - Syrian Star (fourth): This progressive filly won two of four starts in her second campaign and resuming in a strong Highway, was very unlucky here. From the 350m until the 100m, she was kept in a pocket by the fav (Gallant Star) and then coming off heels from there, Syrian Star has still found the line strongly. No doubt should've won this, but she'll get over further and will only improve.
Race 4 - Almania (fourth): Was an eye-catcher first-up off a long spell and stepping to 2000m second-up, it seemed most punters wanted to him follow that performance up and he's done that, peaking late on a chasing effort from the rear, so there's improvement to come. He can still comfortably be placed at BM88 level and with a rating of 81, they could ven come down in grade with a claim.
