Caulfield hosts another major Group 1 of the spring on Saturday, September 19, with the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes bringing together a deep field of sprinters and milers over 1400m under handicap conditions.
Lady Shenandoah is the clear $4 favourite with Unibet Australia after resuming with a fourth behind Autumn Glow in the Winx Stakes at Randwick on August 22.
The Chris Waller-trained mare was beaten 4.3 lengths on that occasion, but she has already established herself as a three-time Group 1 winner and was runner-up in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes over 1600m during the autumn.
Angel Capital and Regal Award share the second line of betting at $8.50.
Angel Capital was an unlucky fourth in this race last year before going on to finish runner-up in the C.F. Orr Stakes, and he also filled the placings in both the Newmarket Handicap and William Reid Stakes during the autumn.
Regal Award joins him at $8.50 and is prominent in an open second tier of the market, with the gap from Lady Shenandoah highlighting how strongly the favourite is being respected.
Warnie is next at $9.50 after strengthening his claims with a first-up win in the Chautauqua Stakes at Sandown on September 9.
The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding scored over 1300m there and now rises to 1400m, a distance at which he has already recorded multiple victories.
Sabaj, Sepals, Planet Red and Evaporate are all quoted at $11, giving the race considerable depth beyond the first four in betting.
Defending champion Sepals returns to a race he won in 2025 and was most recently seen finishing runner-up in the Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm during the winter.
Evaporate also arrives in strong form after winning over 1500m at Sandown on September 5, having resumed with a third at Caulfield over 1400m.
Tom Kitten rounds out the leading chances at $13 and brings proven Group 1 form into another spring campaign, although he will be looking to improve on his first-up run in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes History
After a brief two-year stint at the back end of the spring carnival, the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes returned to its traditional September position on the Melbourne racing calendar in 2025, restoring its place alongside the Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.
The Group 1 handicap is contested over 1400m at Caulfield and has long provided an important spring target for both established gallopers and emerging horses looking to progress into stronger weight-for-age company.
First run in 1951 as the Invitation Stakes and won by Jovial Lad, the race has undergone several name changes before adopting its current title in honour of former Victoria Amateur Turf Club chairman Sir Rupert Clarke.
The race has been run at Group 1 level since 1979 and boasts a strong honour roll that includes Manikato, Encosta De Lago and Testa Rossa, with the latter winning back-to-back editions in 1999 and 2000.
Its September position also restores the traditional link with the Toorak Handicap three weeks later, giving runners a natural progression from 1400m to 1600m during the Caulfield spring.
The most recent winners are Magic Time in 2023, Kimochi in 2024 and Sepals, who claimed the 2025 edition at Caulfield.
