ASCOT

Race 4 - Knot Secret (fifth): The penny is starting to drop with this four-year-old, who won a Class 1 in August before a spell and went straight to 1400m here off one trial. Shuffled back in a muddling affair, he was held-up and working home restricted room for the entire straight, so did well to get as close as he did. He can drop back to the midweeks with a low rating.

Race 8 - God Had Chosen (seventh): There was admittedly a few hard luck stories from the Railway, but perhaps this is the galloper that push on and contest longer journeys this campaign, with the jockey (Clint Johnston-Porter) also suggesting that he'll get further. After a wide run, he was brave late, picking up again in the last 100m after looking well beaten.

BALLARAT

Race 1 - Belle Et Riche (second): In a race where it was hard to make up a heap of ground, this mare’s effort was huge first-up. She ran straight past a horse who was competitive with Illation in the autumn while the winner was fit and competitive over the carnival. This prep is all about building up her rating to potentially tackle some black type races in the autumn.
Race 5 - Unanimous (second): This gelding has gone enormous, hitting the front a long way from home and giving 5kg to the winner who looks very smart. The son of Deep Field was coming off a very unlucky effort over the Flemington Carnival and in a coming benchmark race around over the mile, this gelding looks one who will head there and win.

KEMBLA GRANGE

Race 4 - Sacrimony (second): Has run into a sharper 1000m horse in Quick Tempo, who was overdue and finally got some favours, but this was a strong by this Waller four-year-old, who recorded the second fastest last 600m of the entire card (32.43). For a progressive galloper that's already won a BM78, what stands out is the 71 rating, so he'll be easy to place this prep.
Race 10 - Manderboss (second): Although entitled to finish off well given the soft run and low weights, it was a decent step in class for Manderboss, coming to a BM78 third-up and he'll find easier races with a metro rating of 67. All three wins have come in the 1400m-1600m range and with three spring efforts under his belt, there's a good platform for the mile now.

MORPHETTVILLE

Race 4 - Pudding (second): Maybe a prep or so away from furnishing, but this son of Tavistock has ability and without luck, has made good inroads from the rear. After dictating, Metro Legend (fav) was a little disappointing and 4kg, along with a softer run was the difference between first and second. Pudding is still learning, but will make a nice horse.
Race 8 - Bamyan Buddha (fifth): This gelding was aiming for a winning hat-trick and while he didn't achieve that, he again performed well, without any favours. After jumping well from barrier one, they handed up to the eventual winner and instead decided to go back, then try loop the leading bunch off a slow speed with 61.5kg. Good run, just got the tactics wrong.

SUNSHINE COAST

Race 7 - Sneaky Five (second): This four-year-old was coming off a long spell (173 days) and given how well she found the line against some handy sprinters, she looks on track to get another win on the board this prep. A stakes winner at three, this mare is already valuable and no doubt the team at Rosemont have her on track to find an open age black type race to add to her broodmare page.

Race 8 - Street Dancer (third): Second-up from a spell over a trip short of his best, his run was super attacking the line against horses who are milers at their best. There was a lot of market support on his side which indicated a positive run, but expecting him to be at his top third-up over 2000m next start. If he can get a track that is in the good range, that is when we will see the best from Street Dancer.
