Wyong Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 11 Anthropoid

Anthropoid was set some stiff tasks as a two-year-old, with two of his five starts coming in Group 3 company.

The gelding made his first start in maiden grade when returning from a spell at the end of last month, having completed two jump-outs leading into that resumption.

Racing over 1200m at Illawarra Grange, he produced a good fourth and was beaten just under two lengths in his first appearance since being gelded.

The three-year-old’s breeding suggests forecast Soft ground should pose no issue, while the rise in distance also looks suitable.

Representing the Brad Widdup stable and drawing barrier seven, Anthropoid is taken to improve again and break his maiden at the sixth attempt.

Wyong Feature Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Monte Kate

Two victories have already come Monte Kate’s way in 2026, with both recorded at Canterbury during her previous preparation.

The latest of those came over 1250m in February when she scored by just over one-and-a-half lengths in a BM78 before being spelled following a tenth in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes at Randwick.

Robert and Luke Price’s mare failed to fire at big odds over 1100m at Rosehill when resuming, although she has generally shown significant improvement second-up.

Mollie Fitzgerald knows her well, having partnered the mare to two wins and two seconds from four rides.

The daughter of I Am Invincible looks the main pace influence and, from barrier one, she is taken to control the race and successfully concede weight to her rivals.

Wyong Leagues Group Cup Prelude Tips (Race 7)

Wyong Best Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Hovland

Two wins from his past three starts have Hovland arriving at Wyong in excellent form.

Both victories have come at metropolitan level, including a Class 3 Plate success over 1805m at Eagle Farm last time where he scored by one-and-a-half lengths on a Soft 5.

Although disappointing in his only previous attempt at this distance, he shaped as though the trip would suit when finishing strongly in that latest win.

The form has also received a boost, with runner-up Diamond Show subsequently winning at Doomben earlier this month.

Zac Lloyd has combined well with the five-year-old previously and, with the forecast conditions expected to suit, the John O’Shea and Tom Charlton-trained gelding looks capable of completing back-to-back wins.

Carlton Wyong Cup Carnival Benchmark 64 Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Wyong Favourite - Race 8 No. 11 Fleet Flyer

An unbeaten two-from-two record at Wyong gives Fleet Flyer strong claims in the finale.

Her first course victory came on wet ground on debut in February, before she was later spelled following a down-the-field effort at Gosford.

The five-year-old showed up well in a Randwick trial ahead of her return and then produced a dominant front-running victory over this track-and-trip two weeks ago.

That five-length success came on Good ground, but softer conditions should pose no concern based on her previous wet-track performance.

A wide draw is the main query in the bigger field, although Louise Day knows the mare well and, after partnering her to victory last time, the pair look capable of following up.
