Blackbook Runners From Canterbury

Race Three:

Vienna Rain (second). It was arguably the run of the day from this Waterhouse & Bott trained gelding who was spotting race fitness to his rivals in what was a handy benchmark event for the three-year-old's.

He showed glimpses of potential in a rather consistent first racing campaign last year when breaking through over seven furlongs and wasn't disgraced at listed level when rounding out the preparation over 1800m at listed level over the Melbourne Spring Carnival.

The 1250m nature of this journey was on the sharp side for Vienna Rain first-up, however the fighting effort to find that second wind and nearly topple the winner was brave and he's the one who has the most improvement to come out of this event.
Race Four:

Lady Highly (second). It's a good time of the year to have a lightly raced stayer with a low rating in work and now with a few efforts under her belt, this four-year-old is back on track following a disappointing first-up performance.

A daughter of High Chaparral who won her first two races at the back-end of 2019 when getting out over 2100 metres, she eventually did get the favors but with them further trips in mind, this was a good platform and behind Milunka here who does look city class, Lady Highly can find some softer options soon.

The form around her last campaign suggests she has some ability and over nine or ten furlongs next time out, she can return to the winners stall in the right race.
Race Seven:

Bigboyroy (sixth). He was a big drifter in the market here second-up ($3.80-$6.50) with many punters looking to take him on with that wide gate, however a lot of luck saved them from having egg on their faces with nothing going right at all for this gelding.

Eased back to last by Louise Day early, she tried to get this four-year-old off the fence rounding the turn and blend in out wide, but was severely checked twice with the last bit of inconvenience denying her a run at the 250m which would have made it very interesting if she got it.

The five and a half length losing margin didn't do him justice and despite Bigboyroy becoming a little costly now, he strikes me as a sort that will put a few together quickly in the winter.
