Alex de Minaur remains well below his best, but is tipped to dig out another scrappy victory when he comes up against Wimbledon semi-finalist Arthur Fery in the Cincinnati Masters third round on Monday. Over 20.5 total games is backed as the best bet, with the Demon coming away with the win in three.
It's been a challenging season for De Minaur and he's not really giving any indication that he's about to recapture his best tennis.
Cincinnati has also been a tough tournament for De Minaur throughout his career - in fact, the only time he's won back-to-back matches at the event was in his debut appearance back in 2019. The Aussie barely survived Quentin Halys in a deciding set tiebreak in his opening match and now has a tricky assignment in recent Wimbledon semi-finalist Fery, who is competing in this Masters tournament for the first time after his ranking received a huge boost with that aforementioned run.
While it still remains to be seen if Fery can back up his level from Wimbledon overseas and on hardcourt, I'm not at all confident with De Minaur being a $1.20 favourite or backing him with any sort of line or straight sets betting.
So I'm going to focus on Over 20.5 total games for the best bet. Demon just isn't winning matches easily at the moment and Fery should be good enough to at least push this over in a straights defeat - if not win a set himself and challenge for the upset.

Relatively speaking, de Minaur has endured an inconsistent season. After an outstanding start that saw him reach the Australian Open quarter-finals and claim the ATP 500 title in Rotterdam, the Aussie has found it difficult to maintain that level.
His form dipped significantly through the spring, with a 5-6 record from Acapulco to Rome before a semi-final appearance in Hamburg hinted at a return to form. However, that momentum proved short-lived as he managed just one win at Roland Garros before being eliminated by Jakub Menšík.
The grass-court season was equally frustrating. De Minaur finished runner-up in 's-Hertogenbosch after falling to Kamil Majchrzak, suffered a quarter-final defeat to Brandon Nakashima at Queen's Club, and then exited Wimbledon in the fourth round after a straight-sets loss to Flavio Cobolli.
The 27-year-old was unable to defend his Washington title to start the summer in North America, with Nakashima once again proving his undoing in the quarter-finals. It didn't get any better in Canada, with de Minaur going out to Cam Norrie in his second match.
As mentioned, De Minaur has struggled in Cincinnati and has an even 6-6 record at the tournament. He managed to overcome Quentin Halys 1-6 6-3 7-6(4) in his opening match for his first win at the event since 2023.

Fery began the year by qualifying for the Australian Open and beating Flavio Cobolli in the opening round, but obviously it was during the grass swing where he made a huge impact.
The 24-year-old put together an extraordinary run to the semi-finals at Wimbledon, defeating Cobolli once again, along with Grigor Dimitrov, before falling to Alexander Zverev.
That result propelled Fery from outside the top 100 and into the world's top 40 for the first time, allowing him to directly enter these big tournaments for the first time.
Competing for the first time since Wimbledon, Fery was understandably a bit rusty, but did well to outlast Australian veteran James Duckworth 6-4 2-6 7-6(4) for his first Masters 1000 victory.
