Cobolli and Paul have been marathon men at this year's Cincinnati Masters, with both players advancing into the quarter-finals following a trio of three-set victories. Cobolli came back from a set down to conquer the in-form Rafael Jodar in his previous round, while Paul saved a match point and recovered from a 2-4 deficit in the deciding set to take the scalp of top seed Alexander Zverev.

At the time of writing, only Taylor Fritz has previously won a Masters 1000 title of the men remaining in the Cincinnati draw - and with the winner of this match to face either Arthur Fils or Thiago Agustin Tirante in the semi-finals, Cobolli and Paul know they might never get a better chance to win one of these titles.

It sets up what should be a cracking contest and I can't really split the pair - which means Cobolli offers the value. The Italian has been the better player over the course of the season and has probably just a little more firepower and explosiveness than Paul, who is more of an all-round athletic player.

I think another long match is in prospect, with Cobolli covering a +2.5 start and looking good for the outright win.

It's been a tremendous season for Cobolli - he could probably still work on his consistency from week to week, but you can't argue with a Grand Slam final and top 10 debut.

Cobolli's best results have been winning the ATP 500 title in Acapulco, reaching his maiden major final at Roland Garros, finishing runner-up in Munich and advancing to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.

The Italian didn't have the best start to his summer in North America, losing his opening match in Montreal to Yannick Hanfmann.

However, Cobolli has recaptured some of his best tennis in Cincinnati, reaching the quarter-finals of a Masters 1000 tournament for the second time after Madrid earlier this year.

All three of Cobolli's wins have come in three sets, starting with Miomir Kecmanovic (6-1 4-6 6-3) and Alexander Blockx (7-5 4-6 7-5). Cobolli then recovered from making 42 unforced errors across his opening two sets against Rafael Jodar, ultimately beating the in-form teenager 4-6 7-6(3) 6-3.

It's been a pretty consistent season for Paul and he probably deserves to be ranked higher than his current mark of No. 24.

A 1-3 record in finals has cost Paul a current top 20 ranking - he managed to win the 250 in Houston, but finished runner-up at Queens, Delray Beach and Hamburg.

Paul got married after Wimbledon and it was a slow return to action, losing his opening match in Washington to Kamil Majchrzak and second match in Montreal to Learner Tien.

The American has battled hard to get back to his best tennis in Cincinnati and been rewarded with a spot in the quarter-finals.

After a 6-4 6-7(3) 6-3 win over Hubert Hurkacz and 3-6 6-3 6-4 victory over Adolfo Daniel Vallejo, Paul recorded the 16th top 10 win of his career by taking out top seed Alexander Zverev 4-6 7-6(6) 6-4 in the R16.

Paul saved a match point at 5-6 in the second set tiebreak and came back from 2-4 down in the third to move into the Cincinnati quarter-finals for the first time.
