Established in 2017, the Next Gen ATP Finals was held in Milan until 2023, when it was moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The tournament is played on indoor hardcourt and staged at the King Abdullah Sports City complex.
Previous winners of the tournament include current ATP World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, along with Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Joao Fonseca is the defending champion after beating Learner Tien in the 2024 final.
The Next Gen ATP Finals is very different to the regular ATP World Tour, with the biggest changes listed below:
- First to four games in each set
- Best of five sets
- Tiebreak at 3-3
- No-Ad scoring
- Coaches communicate with players via headsets
- Public can move around the stadium during the match (apart from behind the baseline)
The top seven players in the year-end Race qualify for the Next Gen ATP Finals, with one wildcard to be awarded to the winner of a qualifying tournament.
