Eight days after meeting in the Toronto final, Swiatek and Rybakina square off for a place in the Cincinnati semi-finals. Swiatek was a dominant 6-3 6-2 winner in Canada last week, securing her first title of 2026 and improving her incredible record in WTA finals to 26-5.

The Pole is now defending her Cincinnati Open title and arrives at this quarter-final on a nine-match winning streak, while eight of her last nine match wins in Cincinnati have come in straight sets. Safe to say Swiatek enjoys these conditions.

Rybakina has done a good job of backing up that run to the Toronto final, winning all three of her matches in Cincinnati in straight sets.

But if Swiatek maintains her current level, I'm not sure what Rybakina can do different from last week. These two have a fairly even H2H (Swiatek leads 7-6), which means you have to go on current form when predicting a winner - and the Pole is playing much better tennis right now. Swiatek was also a straight sets winner when the pair met in the Cincinnati semis last year.

I'm taking Swiatek to win as the main play, with a smaller stake on another straight sets victory.

It's been an overall great season for Rybakina, with her best work coming on hardcourt, where she's compiled a 29-6 record.

The obvious highlight was at the start of the year when Rybakina won her second major title at the Australian Open, while she's also finished runner-up at Indian Wells and last week in Toronto, along with reaching the semi-finals in Miami.

After a tough clay and grass stretch, Rybakina returned to form in Toronto, beating Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff before falling to Swiatek.

Rybakina continues to build momentum in Cincinnati, beating Taylor Townsend, Magdalena Frech and Diana Shnaider in straight sets to make the quarter-finals for the third time.

However, the Pole suddenly rediscovered her best tennis to claim her first title of the year, beating the likes of Marta Kostyuk, Elina Svitolina and Rybakina along the way.

That result propelled Swiatek back into the world's top five and she will hope to stay there by defending her Cincinnati title.

Swiatek has maintained her winning momentum, starting with a crushing 6-3 6-0 win over Emiliana Arango before a three-set victory against Maria Sakkari. Swiatek then defeated Dianne Parry 6-3 6-3 to advance into her 30th WTA 1000 quarter-final.
