The 2025 WTA China Open tournament takes place between September 24 and October 5, with some of the leading names in women's tennis looking to conquer Beijing and come away with the coveted WTA 1000 title.

Eight of the world's top 10 players will be battling it out in Beijng, with Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova and Jessica Pegula amongst the big names.

First played in 2004, the China Open has gradually transformed into one of the biggest tournaments on the WTA calendar.

The China Open became a WTA Premier Mandatory tournament in 2009, with the likes of Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Garbine Muguruza and Naomi Osaka all lifting the trophy.

In 2023, the tournament became classified as a WTA 1000, with Iga Swiatek securing the title. Coco Gauff is the defending champion after beating Karolina Muchova in the 2024 final.

Currently, 96 players compete in the singles draw, with the top 32 seeds receiving byes in the opening round. The doubles main draw will see 32 teams compete.

The tournament is held at the Beijing Olympic Tennis Centre, with the main court seating 15,000 spectators with a retractable roof in place.

WTA Beijing Seeds & Entry List

Aryna Sabalenka and Madison Keys are the only top 10 players missing from the 2025 China Open draw, with another star-studded field assembling in Beijing.

Iga Swiatek is coming off the Seoul title and will be tough to beat as the top seed, but the likes of defending champion Coco Gauff and her fellow Americans - including Jessica Pegula & Amanda Anisimova - will prove stiff competition.

Other big names to watch out for include the likes of Mirra Andreeva, Jasmine Paolini and Elena Rybakina, while Qinwen Zheng makes her return after being sidelined since Wimbledon.

Naomi Osaka will also be looking to continue her encouraging form, while Montreal champion Victoria Mboko will also command attention.
