The 2024 Toray Pan Pacific Open is live between October 21-27, with another star-studded field assembling in Tokyo for the WTA 500 tournament.

Olympic gold medalist Qinwen Zheng headlines the field alongside Beatriz Haddad Maia and recently-crowned Seoul champion Daria Kasatkina.

WTA Tokyo Overview

Established in 1973, WTA Tokyo has gone through several different name and category changes throughout its existence.

The tournament is currently known as the Toray Pan Pacific Open and operates as a WTA 500 event, featuring a singles draw of 28 players (four byes for the top seeds) and a 16-pair doubles field.

WTA Tokyo is held at the Ariake Coliseum, which also stages the men's ATP 500 tournament earlier in the Asian swing.

Bille Jean King won the first ever WTA Tokyo event in 1973, while other notable names to have secured the title include Martina Navratilova, Martina Hingis, Maria Sharapova, Steffi Graf, Lindsay Davenport, Caroline Wozniacki and Naomi Osaka.

Veronkia Kudermetova is the defending champion after winning the 2023 final over Jessica Pegula.

WTA Tokyo 2024 Player Entry List

There's been a couple of high-profile withdrawals ahead of the 2024 Toray Pan Pacific Open, with Paula Badosa and Anna Kalinskaya both pulling out.

Nevertheless, there's still a formidable field in Tokyo, including top seed Qinwen Zheng, who has surged into the top 10 and looking to continue her stellar season, which already has seen her make the Australian Open final and win Olympic Gold.
Daria Kasatkina will be looking to double down after winning the Korea Open in Seoul last week, while Beatriz Haddad Maia is also in a rich vein, winning 16 of her last 21 matches.

Diana Shnaider and Magdalena Frech are also players to watch having won WTA titles in 2024, with both also playing some great tennis in Asia.
