WTA Auckland Overview
One of the biggest annual sporting events in New Zealand, the ASB Classic in Auckland plays host to the WTA 250 tournament during the first week of the new tennis season.
The tournament is held at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland and is played on outdoor hardcourt, with a singles draw of 32 players and doubles draw of 16 teams.
The tournament was first staged in 1956 as an Auckland Invitational event and has gradually transformed into one of the best WTA 250 tournaments on the calendar.
Some of the biggest names in women's tennis have won the WTA Auckland title, including Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Lindsay Davenport and Ana Ivanovic.
Coco Gauff is the two-time defending champion, defeating Rebecca Masarova in the 2023 final and Elina Svitolina in the 2024 showpiece.
WTA Auckland 2025 Player Entry List
Former World No. 1 and four-time major champion Naomi Osaka is set to headline the 2025 ASB Classic, with the tournament announcing her participation.
It will be Osaka's first appearance in Auckland since her debut in 2017, where she made the quarter-finals but had yet to crack the top 40 in the rankings.
Two more Grand Slam champions have also been announced, with former Wimbledon winner Emma Raducanu and former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu also taking part.
