Juveniles take centre stage in the Richmond Stakes before some talented three-year-olds clash in the Gordon Stakes.

Glorious Goodwood 2026 - Day 3 Preview

Race 1 - Kincsem Heritage Handicap Tips

After an excellent effort in a similarly valuable Heritage Handicap at the July Festival, 6. Decade Of Time still looks well treated despite a rise of just 1kg.

Jack Channon's three-year-old won two mile maidens before tackling the Oddschecker Handicap, where he drifted from $7 to $10 in the betting. Decade Of Time raced keenly and took up the running early before being headed at the two pole, but battled on strongly to finish less than two lengths behind the classy Heraldry.

Channon's colt saw out the 2000m trip well that day, and that valuable Festival experience should stand him in excellent stead heading to Goodwood.

A wide draw isn't ideal, but plenty of winners have come from double-figure barriers in this race. Tom Marquand should still fancy his chances.

Race 2 - Richmond Stakes Tips

Plenty of horses have progressed from the Coventry Stakes to win the Richmond over the years. Three of the first four home from that Royal Ascot Group 2 feature head the betting here, and I like the chances of 3. Cut A Dash.

Richard Hannon's youngster scored nicely on debut over five furlongs at York before stepping up in trip at Ascot. Sean Levey's mount was a little slow away but warmed into the race well, hitting the line strongly to finish just a length behind the excellent Great Barrier Reef.

Hannon has enjoyed plenty of success in the Richmond and has already saddled a couple of winners this week. Cut A Dash's dam was beaten only a neck in the Prestige Stakes here at Goodwood.

Everything points towards a big performance from this talented son of Starspangledbanner.

Race 3 - Gordon Stakes Tips

A tricky little contest. Geryon is a horse I like, but I'm not convinced Ger Lyons' colt has been crying out for this longer trip. Bay Of Brilliance must bounce back from a disappointing run in Germany, while most of the remainder are stepping up from handicap company.

The rank outsider, 4. Magnetude, isn't without a chance. James Owen's colt has only disappointed once this season, when racing too keenly in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot and never getting into the contest.

Either side of that effort, Magnetude has traded victories with the progressive stayer Mythical Bay. Owen's colt made all to beat him at Chester before going down fighting when Mythical Bay reversed the result in a valuable July Festival handicap.

Oisin Murphy takes the ride for the first time, and I'm sure he'll be positive knowing Magnetude stays beyond 2400m. Venetian Lace should ensure a genuine tempo, and if this Group 2 develops into a proper stamina test, Magnetude could prove the one to beat.

Race 4 - Nassau Stakes Tips

Diamond Necklace has only three rivals to beat as she attempts to preserve her unbeaten record. Aidan O'Brien's filly has won more Group 1s than the rest of the field combined and receives 4kg from the older mares.

However, Diamond Necklace has never raced in Britain and will encounter the quickest ground of her career. Ryan Moore's mount only scraped home by a neck in the Prix de Diane despite starting a $1.50 favourite. If either the ground or the trip contributed to that performance, favourite backers could be vulnerable on Thursday.

I'm siding with 1. Friendly Soul.

John and Thady Gosden's mare rounded out her three-year-old season with victory in the Prix de l'Opera but missed the whole of 2025 through injury. She almost had both her season and potentially her career ended when stepping into a pothole on her long-awaited return at Haydock in May.

Friendly Soul then dropped back to a mile for the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot. Oisin Murphy had to wait patiently at the rear before eventually finding a gap along the rail, and she finished strongly to get within three lengths of Blue Bolt.

Blue Bolt has since thrashed Aidan O'Brien's leading three-year-old miler Precise in the Falmouth Stakes, while Duke Of Cambridge fourth Kon Tiki defeated the three-year-olds in a Group 3 last Saturday. Friendly Soul is already a Group 1 winner over this distance, and some of her best performances have come on fast ground.

Race 5 - Buccellati Handicap Tips

4. Manatee Mehmas looked destined for Pattern company after blowing his rivals away on debut at Doncaster in May.

David O'Meara's youngster then contested the Westow Stakes at York, where he raced too keenly before fading into fourth. Manatee Mehmas again hung badly to the right in the Scurry Stakes at Sandown and was allowed to coast home by Danny Tudhope after his chance had gone.

O'Meara's sprinter bounced back with a solid handicap debut at York last month. He again took time to settle but kept finding the line to finish a clear third behind Naana's Shadow and Schrodinger's Cat.

He still has a few lengths to make up on those rivals, but Manatee Mehmas continues to learn with racing and remains capable of taking another step forward.

Race 6 - Whispering Angel Nursery Handicap Tips

Following Dr Rascal's Vintage Stakes success on day one, 9. Mia Fantasia appeals off an opening handicap mark of just 79.

Hugo Palmer's colt won impressively on debut before starting a $3.25 chance in a Conditions Stakes at Ascot. Dr Rascal proved too strong that day, but Mia Fantasia caught the eye after recovering from a slow start to finish third.

Oisin Murphy's mount was beaten six lengths by the winner, but the performance was better than the margin suggests.

With much of the pace drawn high, Mia Fantasia could enjoy the perfect trail from barrier 13.

Race 7 - Maiden Fillies' Stakes Tips

Aidan O'Brien has won this maiden several times over the years, and So Lovely looks the obvious winner after a solid debut at Leopardstown.

I can't find anything convincing enough to oppose the short-priced favourite, so I'll leave this race alone and save my stake for the lucky last.

Race 8 - HKJC World Pool Handicap Tips

After winning two Kempton maidens over the winter, 7. Zennor Storm disappointed in his first two handicap starts.

William Haggas' gelding struggled on his seasonal return at Newmarket before finishing last of 10 runners at Newbury two weeks later.

Zennor Storm was subsequently gelded and returned with a much-improved effort at York. Tom Marquand's mount was slowly away and forced to circle the field, but finished strongly to grab fourth, just behind Cadarn and Andesite.

Haggas has added cheekpieces for this Festival assignment. A wide draw in stall 13 isn't ideal, but Marquand will likely look to slot in early before producing Zennor Storm as late as possible.
