Flemington Roughie Tip
Flemington Roughie - Race 7 No. 13 Murgasty
He's improved with every start over his first campaign, with Murgasty relishing the distance rises along the way.
A half-brother to Fenway (Group 1 winner), the son of Pierro broke through over 2580m at Cranbourne before a freshen-up.
Despite being nearly six weeks between runs, he was a single figure chance when contesting a Sandown BM70 on June 18.
With that last outing a needed blowout ahead of this 200k feature, Murgasty should be further screwed down on Saturday.
Gawler Roughie Tip
Gawler Roughie - Race 8 No. 1 Guava
A wet track is ideal for Guava, with all five of his wins coming on soft tracks and he's been in the money via both heavy attempts.
It was a solid return without luck, with the five-year-old covering ground via a seventh-of-twelve finish at Murray Bridge.
On a Heavy 8 second-up, there was a strong market push for Guava ($10-$6) and he managed a third in that attempt.
This is a big drop in grade and he carried 1kg more when beating Sir Kingsford (subsequent Listed winner) earlier in the season.
Pinjarra Roughie Tip
Pinjarra Roughie - Race 5 No. 3 Macciateau
He was a first-up winner via a similar race March and Macciateau was competitive in two of his next three appearances.
Among those better efforts was a third-place finish at Belmont on March 17 when campaigning in stronger company.
There was seemingly a small setback afterwards, as bar plates were applied and he also covered ground on June 2.
Bar Plates were removed for his June 21 assignment and Macciateau had no luck there (back and then held-up).
Rosehill Roughie Tip
Rosehill Roughie - Race 2 No. 6 La Signora Dane
She's lightly raced for a rising six-year-old and La Signora Dane has been consistent in nine runs for Richard Litt.
The mare has recorded five wins and two placings for the new yard, and three of those victories have come this prep.
La Signora Dane broke through at metro level two starts back and the form through that Canterbury race has been okay.
Her last performance was a forgive, as La Signora Dane found plenty of trouble in that June 18 attempt.
Sunshine Coast Roughie Tip
Sunshine Coast Roughie - Race 7 No. 9 Gumdrops
The Dane Ripper Stakes reference has to be respected and Gumdrops recorded a fifth-place finish in that Group 2.
First, second, third and fifth in the Group 1 Tatts Tiara all came from the Dane Ripper Stakes, which was contested on June 14.
Given she was three-wide, her effort had as much merit any in that race, while she'll only strip fitter now third-up.
Gumdrops worked well in two Sydney trials before heading north, with this is her first campaign under Chris Waller.
