Magain Fielke Real Estate Gawler Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Gawler Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 The Great Baby
While unable to win in eight starts last prep, the gelding was set some stiff tasks, including when twice competing in Listed company at Morphettville.
The Great Baby finished fifth on each occasion, including beaten just over two lengths in the 1100m Manihi Classic in March.
The son of Zebedee was spelled following a below par effort via a Benchmark 70 handicap at the same venue later that month.
The five-year-old impressed in his sole barrier trial prior to returning to action in a 1000m Benchmark 78 handicap at Murray Bridge last month.
Returning to a wet track for that Murray Bridge effort, The Great Baby lost out by less than half-a-length in finishing runner-up.
The winner that day has boosted the form in winning a metro Benchmark 80 contest subsequently, with the Murray Bridge third filling the same spot that day.

Gawler Value Bet - Race 5 No. 10 Lomax
The veteran has shown a liking for this venue in the past, registering three wins and a further three top three finishes from eleven starts here.
Lomax won twice in metro contests at Morphettville last prep, with both of those victories coming over 1600m when racing on good going.
The second of those victories saw the gelding come home in front in a Benchmark 0-62 handicap at the start of November.
He headed into his first start this prep without a barrier trial and as is often the case, he caught the eye in finishing strongly.
Lomax was beaten just under half-a-length in finishing fourth in a Benchmark 0-64 handicap over 1200m at Murray Bridge on that occasion.
Notably, the eight-year-old raced on a wet track for the first time since August that day and the Soft 7 expected here is a positive.
Sanders Fodder Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Gawler Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 7 Wine Barron
The New Zealand-bred galloper has been running well in the main this prep, finishing in the first five in six of eight starts.
Those top five finishes include a good second-place finish when contesting a 1400m Benchmark 68 handicap at Morphettville Parks four starts back.
The gelding went on to register his first victory this prep when successful by over two-and-a-half-lengths at Morphettville two starts later.
Wine Barron contested a 1800m Benchmark 0-68 handicap held on a sound surface on that occasion and while has no wet track wins to his name, he has placed on both soft and heavy surfaces in the past.
The son of Vadamos’\ tried to make all from a wide barrier at Murray Bridge subsequently and he can be forgiven that below par performance.
Michael Hickmott’s gelding has been freshened since that effort and he looks up to recording a win down in grade.
Holdfast Insurance Brokers Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Gawler Roughie - Race 8 No. 12 Percidian
All four of the gelding’s starts have come at this venue, including when making the perfect start to his career in saluting here on debut in June last year.
The four-year-old won by half-a-length when contesting an 1100m maiden held on a Heavy 9 track that day and he was spelled following that effort.
His eighth over 1200m here in November can be ignored, with the gelding having been badly hampered by a faller on that occasion.
A fifth when beaten just over five-and-a-half-lengths in a 1200m Class 2 handicap followed, with that effort marking the gelding’s final start of 2024.
Percidian had one barrier trial prior to resuming with a good fourth-place finish dropped back to 1100m for a Class 1 here last month.
The son of Press Statement jumped from a wide barrier that day and is expected to have improved for that effort.
