Bunbury Roughie Tip

Bunbury Roughie - Race 8 No. 12 Sunny Honey

His fresh form ties with Richanco (second fav) and Sunny Honey was good late in that 1000m event.

After running the fastest last closing sectionals of his first-up affair, the five-year-old was unlucky last start.

Sunny Honey covered ground on the speed second-up and he stuck on well for second despite a tough run.

He's generally thereabouts and wet ground also won't worry Sunny Honey, who draws kinder third-up.

Eagle Farm Roughie Tip

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 3 No. 1 Alegron

This six-year-old is aiming to defend his Brisbane Cup crown and firmer ground can see him improve.

Alegron has never won on heavy ground and he's only encountered those conditions in three runs this campaign.

His last good track run was in The Metrop, where he was inconvenienced (should've finished much closer).

He's one of only three runners in the field who is proven past 2500m and a fourth-up spike wouldn't shock.

Murray Bridge Roughie Tip

Murray Bridge Roughie - Race 9 No. 1 Invertational

Her stable debut for Clarken & O'Shea was sound and she's been kept on the fresh side for a slightly easier race.

The extra 150m is a plus for Invertational, who has completed a soft trial since her May 3 resumption.

She beat Danny's St Darci (Listed winner and Group placed twice later that prep) via her last try over this trip.

Wide lanes are often favoured at Murray Bridge, especially late in a card and she can find the best ground late.

Rosehill Roughie Tip

Rosehill Roughie - Race 6 No. 13 Agita

Although he didn't progress in three subsequent outings, Agita was a strong first-up winner last campaign.

He was heavily backed ahead of that Warwick Farm attempt and the gelding was then tried over longer trips.

Keeping Agita on the fresh side and to shorter distances could be more suitable (hasn't won past 1600m).

David Payne runners are often overlooked and his two metro winners over the last week have been $15+.

Sandown Roughie Tip

Sandown Roughie - Race 5 No. 12 Lady Pappygate

There isn't much between Lady Pappygate and Sound It Out going off their Kyneton clash two starts back.

Sound It Out had the last say off a brutal tempo there, while this four-year-old went one better second-up.

Lady Pappygate is almost double the quote of that rival here and she carries 3kg less from her Ballarat success.

She still has improvement to come, which was evident last start when laying in at key stages of the straight.
