Caulfield Roughie Tip

Caulfield Roughie - Race 7 No. 8 Sunsets

He isn't as effective at Moonee Valley and/or on heavy ground, which have been factors for most of the prep.

His best run this time in came at Caulfield and Sunsets was 1500m to 2000m in that Group 3 Easter Cup tilt.

In a fast-run affair, it was a decent early prep run (the three that settled ahead of him all dropped out).

While he didn't relish a Heavy 8, Sunsets was still ridden too cold last start and he can settle closer here.

Eagle Farm Roughie Tip

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 8 No. 5 Beau Dazzler

He was terrific first-up in a fast-run Queensland Guineas and that fresh effort left the colt flat second-up.

Beau Dazzler picked up a little late after looking well beaten in the Rough Habit Plate (needed the run).

The three-year-old peaked third and fourth-up last prep at Eagle Farm via a Grand Prix/Eagle Way double.

His rivals are deep into preps and they've also done plenty of travelling, whereas Beau Dazzler could be peaking.

Morphettville Roughie Tip

Morphettville Roughie - Race 6 No. 5 La Defense

He was too bad to be true at Group 3 level last time out and La Defense was freshened-up as a result.

Blinkers go on here and that key gear change was in effect via a recent trial, where he was looked after.

His form prior to April 26 was terrific, with a hat-trick last prep and he rattled home at Flemington fresh in March.

La Defense was against the track pattern for that Melbourne card and the lightly raced sprinter can atone.

Pinjarra Roughie Tip

Pinjarra Roughie - Race 8 No. 11 Romming Danger

There's still upside with this four-year-old, who opened her campaign with a 1200m Class 3 victory at Ascot.

While her second-up chasing effort was solid, Romming Danger was looking for further in her last performance.

She gets to 1400m now and rain shouldn't worry her, as she's been competitive in all wet track runs.

This is harder, but she's in good touch and Romming Danger could be finding best ground late on this meeting.

Rosehill Roughie Tip

Rosehill Roughie - Race 10 No. 15 Totoka

There's always been an opinion of Totoka, as seven of her 13 starts have been in black-type events.

She's here off a midfield finish via a Listed event at Scone (second-fastest closing sectionals of the race).

With a fresh BM66 kill followed by a second at Canterbury, Totoka was going well before her third-up run.

The three-year-old carries only 53.5kg here after the claim and that could be crucial late on a wet surface.
