The 2022 Thousand Guineas is the classic three-year-old mile event for fillies of the Melbourne Spring Carnival, a race which often sees the winner head to the Empire Rose Stakes.
Boogie Dancer (barrier six) will be hoping for the rain to come, giving her rivals a galloping lesson over 1400m in the Thousand Guineas Prelude last start in wet conditions.
She's Licketysplit (barrier five) ran third in that event and subsequently won the Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) at Flemington, a race which produced the quinella in this event last year.
Flight Stakes place getter North Star Lass (barrier two) has to be a chance bringing down her strong Sydney form, while last start winner Waltz On By (barrier three) gets her chance at the top level.

Thousand Guineas Winners
A relatively new race to the Australian racing calendar, the Thousand Guineas was first run and won 1946 when Sweet Chime took out the race.
Gaining Group One status in 1979, the Thousand Guineas was run on the second day of the Melbourne Spring Carnival from 1988-2013 but was changed to the first day in 2014.
