Take a look at who's competing in the field below, along with the latest odds (courtesy of Picklebet, correct as of 25/9/26).

Runner	Club	Picklebet Odds
Jed Walter	Gold Coast Suns	$1.70
Arthur Jones	Western Bulldogs	$6.00
Willem Duursma	West Coast Eagles	$7.00
Brandon Leary	Tasmania Devils	$9.00
Jarman Impey	Hawthorn	$15.00
Oliver Florent	Carlton	$21.00
Aliir Aliir	Port Adelaide	$21.00
Luke Davies-Uniacke	North Melbourne	$31.00

Favourite: Jed Walter @ $1.70

It's difficult to look beyond Jed Walter as the runner to beat. The Gold Coast forward won the Grand Final Sprint in 2025 and returns to the MCG attempting to defend his crown. That proven performance over the exact 100m course gives Walter something none of his seven rivals can match, explaining why Picklebet has installed him as the clear $1.70 favourite.

Arthur Jones is considered the main danger at $6.00, but Willem Duursma at $7.00 appeals as an alternative. West Coast describes the 2025 No.1 draft pick as possessing elite running power, while the Eagles have specifically highlighted his speed as one of his attributes. He has also been selected for the sprint through the AFL's Telstra Tracker data, giving the youngster an intriguing profile for a pure speed contest.

Value Pick: Brandon Leary @ $9.00

For those searching for a bigger price, Brandon Leary at $9.00 is arguably the most interesting runner in the field. Leary will become the first Tasmania Devils representative in the event ahead of the club's AFL entry in 2028, earning his opportunity following an impressive first VFL season. The 23-year-old played 19 games for Tasmania this year after kicking 58 goals from just 15 matches for North Launceston in 2025.

Walter deserves favouritism given his status as defending champion, but a 100m sprint leaves little margin for error. At the respective Picklebet prices, Duursma ($7.00) and Leary ($9.00) provide two alternatives to the short-priced favourite in one of Grand Final Day's most entertaining traditions.
