Collingwood Betting Tips, Odds & Latest News
The Collingwood Football Club has 128 years of history with a big and parochial supporter base that consistently delivers large and loud home crowds at the MCG.
With 15 premierships combined in their VFL/AFL history and many rivalries across the competition, you generally either love or hate Collingwood and despite the harsh stereotypes bestowed upon their supporters, they're still the most famous club in Australia.
Collingwood History
The Collingwood Football Club was founded in 1892 in what was then, a working class suburb of Melbourne.
A powerful and revered team in the late 1920's which saw them take out four premierships in a row from 1927 to 1930 prior to winning back-to-back flags in 1935 and 1936, Collingwood broke a famous premiership drought in 1990 following eight losing grand final appearances from 1959 onwards which was commonly referred to as the "Colliwobbles".
Collingwood had a big hangover following that 1990 flag with several mid-table finishes before a new era under coach Mick Malthouse who brought the Magpies from the bottom of the ladder to two grand final appearances in a row in 2001 and 2002 but ran into the sensational Brisbane Lions outfit on both of them occasions.
Under outspoken media identity Eddie McGuire as president since 1998, Collingwood are never too far away from the news and with a large supporter base, their guersney is the most valuable sports sponsorship in Australia.
