Gold Coast Suns Betting Tips, Odds & Latest News
The Gold Coast entered the AFL competition in 2011 and it hasn't been easy for Suns fans since their inception.
Playing and training from a state of the art facility at Carrara and entering a sixth year under coach Stewart Dew, Gold Coast will look to break the finals hoodoo in 2023 and cement themselves as a top eight side in the competition.
Gold Coast Suns History
The Gold Coast Suns arrived on the scene in 2011 with a bang by signing the best player in the competition in Gary Ablett Jr to a five-year contract worth $9 million dollars.
Notching up a Brownlow Medal in 2013 along with four Club Champion Awards, Ablett excelled in his prime years at the Gold Coast Suns but consistently lacked support which was evident in 2014 where after looking as though they could reach the finals, they lost six out of their last seven games following a season-ending injury to their star player.
With Ablett now having returned to Geelong as well losing many other important players over their short history, player retention has been a big problem at the Gold Coast who have finished in the bottom 4 in each of their last five seasons.
In 2022, Gold Coast announced their new captain as Touk Miller, a hard inside ball winner who had his career best season in that year. He will look to once again take the young group under his wing into 2023.
