Saturday's racing across several major meetings features competitive fields with undervalued runners offering substantial odds. Key picks include 'Main Act' at Ascot, racing competitively after a freshen-up, and 'Bullets High' at Caulfield, set to improve from a strong run at Echuca. Also, 'Chamierro' at Eagle Farm rises in distance, promising better performance, while 'Regal Award' at Rosehill presents as a fresh runner with potential for improvement. Emphasis is on strategic each-way bets, leveraging valuable odds for potential returns.

Saturday’s racing throws up plenty of competitive fields across the major meetings, with several runners flying under the radar at big prices.

For a look at the stronger plays across the program, Saturday’s Best Bets provide a guide to the leading chances alongside these value selections.

Ascot Roughie Tip

Ascot Roughie - Race 2 No. 6 Main Act

Perhaps worth another chance at a big each-way price, with Main Act better than what he’s shown in two runs this campaign.

He was keen and failed to settle on return on January 24, which took away his late dash, but it was still a passable effort under the circumstances.

Last start he received a bump when down in grade and was disappointing, although Jessica Valas returns, having been aboard for all three wins.

That last victory came off a similar setup, dropping from 1200m to 1000m off a freshen-up to win a Saturday race, and his 2025 form suggests he can easily measure up.

Caulfield Roughie Tip

Caulfield Roughie - Race 10 No. 2 Bullets High

Bullets High should have won the Echuca Cup last start when badly held up and now presents third-up for this assignment.

That followed an 1100m stable debut flop for the new yard, but that trip is too sharp, and he stays at seven furlongs here, which suits early in the prep.

While proven over further, his record at 1400m is strong, with that Echuca run the only time he has missed the top two at the trip.

At a huge price in the last, he profiles as a genuine each-way play with the right run.

Eagle Farm Roughie Tip

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 7 No. 6 Chamierro

Chamierro may still be a run short second-up, but the rise in distance is a key positive after finding 1200m too sharp on resumption.

That first-up effort on March 7 was still a pass mark, and he looks better suited getting out in trip here.

A progressive type, the four-year-old put together a hat-trick earlier in the season, including two wins at Eagle Farm.

One of those victories came over this track-and-trip, and with natural improvement with a run under the belt, Chamierro can run a race at big odds.

Morphettville Roughie Tip

Morphettville Roughie - Race 10 No. 6 Serinite Illusion

While still raw, Serinite Illusion showed ability early, including a competitive Listed effort last winter.

He broke through in March last year when defeating a hnady Party Crusher, before saluting again at this track-and-trip for us at a big price.

Form this campaign had tapered off before a sharp drop in grade at Balaklava last start, where he returned to form in a race that has since produced a winner.

Veteran hoop Jason Holder stays aboard, and if they are making ground, this shapes as a very winnable race at odds.

Rosehill Roughie Tip

Rosehill Roughie - Race 4 No. 10 Regal Award

Regal Award appeals at an each-way price first-up for Phillip Stokes, a stable that travels well and often strikes fresh.

Settling was an issue last prep, but he still showed ability, highlighted by a dominant Caulfield win in October.

While 1200m may be short of his best, Regal Award won a strong March 3 jump-out that suggests intent for this return.

With improvement to come from that hit-out and the right run, he has the profile to run well at odds fresh.
