The 2022 Cox Plate is the second of the three big major Melbourne Spring Carnival races, run over 2040m at Moonee Valley under WFA conditions.
Anamoe (barrier 4) put the writing on the wall as the best horse in Australia, claiming his third straight Group One win this preparation in the Might And Power.
He finished second in this race last year as a three-year-old and will look to go one better as short priced favourite this time.
I'm Thunderstruck (barrier 10) looked the winner in the Might And Power but was beaten by Anamoe, but what the run did was tick the box that this horse runs a strong mile and a quarter.
Zaaki (barrier 1) is the horse who is ready to peak third-up, finishing a strong third in the Might And Power. He was dramatically scratched from this race on race morning last year when favourite.
Feehan Stakes winner Mr Brightside (barrier 11) was on the heels of these runners in fourth position in the Might And Power while international galloper El Bodegon (barrier 8) adds that extra bit of spice to the event.

Cox Plate Winners
The Cox Plate is without question the greatest two minutes in Australian racing.
Inaugurated in 1922 when Tangalooma took out the event, it’s a veritable who’s who of racing that’s taken this event out.
Named in honour of William Samuel Cox who founded the Moonee Valley race club, the weight-for-age classic is Australia's second richest weight-for-age race behind the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
In recent times the Cox Plate is a truly international race.
The champions list includes the likes of four-time winner Winx, three-time winner Kingston Town, star galloper Northerly and the inimitable Phar Lap.
The history of the Cox Plate has an incredible list of past winners, trainers and jockeys the likes of which is probably only rivalled by the race that stops a nation, the Melbourne Cup.
Lys Gracieux (2019), Sir Dragonet (2020) and State Of Rest (2021) have won the last three editions of The W.S. Cox Plate.
