Sabalenka has been in relatively poor form for a few months now and is clinging onto the No. 1 ranking by a thread - if Elena Rybakina wins one more match, than the Kazakh will leapfrog her for the top spot.
It was another blistering start to the season for Sabalenka, with the four-time major champion registering a 25-1 record across the opening three months, winning titles at Brisbane, Indian Wells and Miami, along with a runner-up finish to Rybakina at the Australian Open.
However, Sabalenka has struggled since lifting the Miami trophy - she went out in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros and R16 at Wimbledon, while she also failed to go beyond the R16 at both Canada and Cincinnati, losing to Alexandrova and Bejlek respectively.
Sabalenka hasn't really been tested as she goes for a US Open three-peat - as mentioned, she hasn't faced a top 50 player and has cruised past Camila Osorio (6-2 6-4), Polina Iatcenko (6-1 6-1), Kamilla Rakhimova (6-3 6-4) and Taylor Townsend (6-4 6-3) in straight sets.

It's been a magical season for Noskova, with the Czech surging into the top 10 on the back of her maiden Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

It was a battle with Kostyuk in the R16, with Noskova blowing a 7-5 5-3 lead before finally converting her sixth match point for the 7-5 5-7 6-4 victory.
